Dinner started off well and everyone's reactions were happy and everyone congratulated them. Most weren't surprised and expected the couple to have a child. After all, it was expected that the woman got pregnant for an heir to the throne.
"I'm happy to have that off of my chest." Elsa whispered to Hans. He smiled and nodded, grabbing her hand and squeezed it tight.
"I love you." He said and kissed her hand. Hans turned away from her and looked out over the table. Everyone was talking amongst themselves, drinking and laughing, just having a good time after hearing good news. Anna and Kristoff already went up to their bedroom to take care of the little ones and soon enough, Hans and Elsa would be doing the same. "Hey," Hans said to Elsa. "Are you tired?"
"A little bit. I think there's too many people and I'm getting exhausted with it all."
"Alright, let's get you to bed." He said and stood from the table, grabbing everyone's attention. "Elsa's pretty tired but you guys can still stay in here." He said and a lot of people nodded, someone people said okay. Elsa stood from the chair easily and they walked out together. "I'm glad that you're tired, I wanted to get out of there without being rude."
"Me too," She nodded. She let out a small sigh and Hans could tell it wasn't a happy one. "Hans," She sighed again and he immediately became paranoid and afraid.
Is she not happy? Does she not love me? Is our relationship different because of her pregnancy? Does she regret our marriage? Were the questions that went racing through his head. Just as she began speaking he noticed he held his breath tight in his chest.
"I don't want to be rude but I think your family has overstayed their visit." She said and he exhaled loudly and laughed quietly, confusing Elsa completely.
"I thought you were going to say something else." He said and hugged her tight to his chest. They continued walking without much talking between them and they arrived up in their new bedroom.
Elsa headed in first then Hans followed, locking the door afterwards. She quickly began undressing from her day gown and into a silky smooth nightgown that went to her knees. While she was dressing herself Hans was making the bed up for them, he grabbed his larger black notebook and set it down on the bed. He undressed until her was down in his underwear and climbed into bed, settling down under the covers and grabbed his notebook and a ink pen.
"So," Elsa said and looked into the mirror while she untied her hair and pulled out her braid. "What's the answer on your family?"
"I can't do that yet." He said and she glared over at him for a second then brushed her hair out, letting it fall loosely across her chest. "No, wait, don't get angry." He said and she nodded, coming over to the bed and sat down beside him. In his notebook were a list of names, names of people who were there when she took that drink. He had asked enough people if they saw anyone hand her a drink and he was still waiting to hear if the wine anyone else had was poisoned. They also tried finding the glass she used but it was no where to be found. "See my notes? All of my family was there and Anna and Kristoff but they would never hurt you. We also need to consider maids or servants who were in the room. If I can just figure out if it was a family member then we could lock them up and send everyone else home."
"Or," She said and shut his notebook. "We tell everyone tomorrow we'd like them to go home and we figure out which of your family gives us a hard time. I mean, they tried killing me, I can guarantee you the attempts are just starting."
"Elsa, you don't understand. That, or you're not taking this as serious."
"Hans, I am carrying our child, I think it's pretty serious. I don't want my life, your life or our child's life to be in danger."
"Then please, let my family stay until I can figure out if it was them." He said and set his notebook over on the nightstand, blowing out the candle that was sitting on the nightstand and turned back to Elsa in the dark. "I need to find them before they can seriously hurt you." He whispered and laid up against Elsa, spooning against her backside and kissed her hair. "I love you too much to lose you."
"I want them found just as badly. Goodnight." She whispered and that was the end of the conversation. Elsa continued thinking and was smiling on the inside on how protective her husband was over her but then she upset herself the more she thought of who would try hurting her or even now, who would try hurting their unborn child?
