Dedicated Chapter Song: My Vow - Black Veil Brides

This is the time we kill and fight to find the savior. The soul we say "we're reckless and in danger". Oh, oh, what's lost is found. This is my vow!

Anna hesitantly walked behind Boss, though occasionally glanced back at Levi to make sure he was still there. "Where are we heading to now?" Levi asked Ruby, who replied simply. "Her first kill." When Levi turned back to Anna, she had aged. She was much taller and older now, and she bared the golden eye forced upon her. They arrived at a small building, secluded in a darkened area of the Underlands. "Now, Anna," Boss spoke, handing her a shining weapon. There was an older woman before her, tied up, her hands and feet bound to a pole and a cloth around her mouth. "Kill her. She disobeyed our laws."

Anna shakily reached her hand out and took the weapon, then turned to the woman, who's pleading eyes were begging Anna not to kill her. "...I can't kill her...." Anna said, shaking her head. "She didn't do anything wrong-"

"She disobeyed the laws, Anna!" Boss sneered. "And if you don't kill her, you'll be in the exact same position as her." he threatened. Anna gasped, and looked back to the woman. Her hand was shaking even more now, though. She shut her eyes and breathed. "One....two...." she didn't even let herself get to three as she jutted out her arm and sloppily stabbed the woman. She heard a muffled scream, but when she opened her eyes, she saw she had only stabbed the woman's shoulder. Not enough to kill.

Anna glowered at the woman. "Quit your whining!" she spoke, her hand steadying as she realized she really would have to kill the woman in order to live. "Or I'll make your death much more painful." Anna held the dagger properly, gripped it firmly, and sliced. Blood rained over her hair and down her body like a red waterfall. She gawked at the dead body before her, shocked at almost how effortlessly she slit the woman's throat. "My, my, my, Anna." Boss grinned, walking over to her. "You surely had proven yourself worthy of your mask." he handed her a simple black mask. "You're in the top ranks now, Urrie."

"Urrie...?" Anna looked up at him. Boss snorted. "You can't go around bearing the Kasahara name. People believe you're dead. It's better to go under an alias, and if, should the time come, you ever get caught, no one will ever know who you truly are. Fight or die trying, Anna Urrie."

Anna raised the black mask to her face and tied the string underneath her hair. Putting her hand to her head, she saluted. "Fight or dying trying," she repeated. "Mission first," Boss motioned to the dagger, then to the body. "Heart last. Your emotions get in the way, Anna. Learn to control them and you'll be the greatest soldier known to man." Anna smiled faintly. "Yes, sir." she tucked the dagger into the pocket of her purple jacket.

Boss strutted away and Anna looked back to the woman's body, only to laugh hysterically. "Look at you now!" she mocked, pointing at it. "All screaming and hollering a moment ago! Now you're quiet? What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" she cackled. "Scum of the earth like you deserve to die." Anna laughed, before groaning and gripping her head tightly. "What the f..." she mumbled, before shaking her head and standing up properly. "I hated that I ever did that..." the real Anna spoke, looking over at Levi. "I wish you never saw this side of me." she said sadly.
