Adoption Day

Lin's POV
-Saturday-

TODAY IS SATURDAY WHICH MEANS
(Drumroll please)

ADOPTION DAY! YAYYY!

I ran into Paisley's room and jumped on her bed. "PAISLEY! PAISLEY! PAISLEY!"

Paisley looked up, with a thoroughly confused and tired face. "What?"

"GUESS WHAT TODAY IS."

"Um...I don't know. Saturday?" Paisley guessed, putting her head under her pillow. I continued to jump.

"AND WHAT HAPPENS TODAY?"

"I get to sleep in? Or that's what I should be doing." Paisley scoffed.

"NO SILLY GOOSE TODAY IS THE DAY WE ADOPT YOU."

Paisley sat up, seeming much more alert. "Shoot."

"ARE YOU EXCITED?"

"No." Paisley said, falling back onto her pillow. I stopped jumping.

"What? Why not?" I whined.

"I don't know. Am I supposed to be excited?" Paisley asked.

"Obviously. Today is the day V and I become your legal guardians." I said. Paisley just groaned again.

"Ugh. OOOH WAIT DO I GET ICE CREAM TODAY?" Paisley asked, raising her hand.

"Do you think it would be adoption day if we didn't get ice cream?!?!" I said. Paisley laughed, giving me a high five. "I'm not really sure what's supposed to happen though."

"I do. You two go to some courthouse and have to sign a bunch of papers. Child services is going to be there and they're gonna talk to you about a bunch of stuff like rules and laws and all that nonsense." Paisley said. I looked at her weirdly.

"How do you know-"

"Dustin was my step-dad, remember? He adopted me. I've done this before." Paisley said, looking slightly uncomfortable with talking about Dustin, but she laughed like nothing was wrong.

"Ohhh. Yeah. Well that's fun. Anyway, you have to be ready in like half an hour. It starts at noon." I informed her. She nodded.

"Okie."

I walked into the bedroom where Vanessa was getting ready.

"Did you call Jess?" I asked her, pulling out a pair of shoes from the closet.

"Yeah. She should be here soon." Vanessa said as she finished putting her makeup on. "Did you wake Paisley up?"

"Yup. Also, we have to get ice cream today because I kind of sort of promised her ice cream and if we don't get any she may be reasonably upset." I said. Vanessa rolled her eyes and laughed.

"Fine, after we go through with the whole thing we can go get ice cream." She said, starting to brush her hair.

"Yes! Haha I'm so excited!"

"For the adoption ceremony? That's so sweet babe." Vanessa said, smiling over at me.

"Yeah!" I agreed, not bringing up the fact that I was talking about the ice cream

Vanessa smiled and came over to me, giving me a hug. "Today's a big day."

"It is." I said, kissing the top of her head. I buttoned my shirt up and put my black tie on with my shoes. Vanessa told Paisley and I that we both had to dress up today. Of course, I was just gonna go in sweatpants and I'm assuming Paisley was gonna do the same, but nope.
