"So... is it like a date?" His mom questioned. They were driving back home after church, and Tyler had just asked his mom if he could go with Joshua to get food.
"N-no, momma!" Tyler giggled and blushed. "Joshua doesn't l-like me like t-that! H-he's too cool a-and older a-and just nice." He chewed on his plump bottom lip reconsidering his own words.

His mom smiled as she softly squeezed his shoulder. "Hm. You might not see it, Tyler. But he likes you. Believe me."

It was silent for a couple of minutes as they drove back through the snow covered world. "I-I don't k-know, momma."
"I do. You can see it in his eyes. He likes you, just as much as you like him." It fell silent once more.
"Just.. be careful okay?" His mom hesitantly stated. Tyler looked at her, eyebrows knitted into a frown. "W-what?"

She sighed but smiled at him reassuringly. "Joshua's a great guy Tyler, and I don't doubt he wants the best for you. He's just a little older, and...", she paused. "And you are young, and so sweet and maybe a bit naive and I just don't want to see my boy getting hurt okay?"

Tyler nodded, even though he didn't really know what his mom meant with that. She probably saw his confusion because she started laughing.
"I meant dating Tyler. There's all sorts of stuff he might be more experienced wi-."
"MOM, STOP!" Tyler face flushed fiercly.
"W-we're not even d-dating", he mumbled hiding his face behind his hands.

His mom shrugged.  "Yet", she answered with the same reassuring smile.
