When Tyler and his mom got home after the Midnight Mass he glanced over to Joshua's house, but all the lights were off. So Tyler slid his phone back into his pocket, resisting the urge to text him.
So he quickly crawled in his cold, empty bed, allowing himself to miss Joshua's strong, protective arms. He could only dream about the day, if that day ever came, he could fall asleep and wake up next to Joshua. He pouted to himself, in the dark, when he suddenly sat up. He remembered the big teddy Joshua got him, carefully tiptoeing towards the corner op the room the bear was sitting. He lifted it up in his arms, crawling back into his bed cuddling up to it. In a soft breeze he could smell Joshua, and he sighed contently.
----
When he woke up it was already passed 10am and he yawned, stretching before wrapping his arms around the bear. He sat up, rubbing the last remains of sleep out of his eyes and getting into his big cat-onesie. He walked downstairs, finding his mom in the kitchen cooking a big breakfast. "Hey Ty! Did you sleep well? I was hoping you'd get up, breakfast is almost ready."
He nodded, shortly hugged his mom, kissing her on the cheek. "M-merry Christmas, momma." She smiled, kissing his forehead. He slauntered back to the dining table with the nutella and syrup.
"You want coffee or tea?" His mom yelled from the kitchen, but he didn't really hear as he saw pink curls on the driveway next to their house through the window. "Tyler?" He quickly glanced over his shoulder, answering he wanted tea. His eyes shot back to where he spotted Joshua.
His heart nearly stopped as he suddenly saw someone else walking out to Joshua's car with him. Tyler was almost in the windowsill as he saw Joshua's million dollar smile, but meant for a pretty girl. She hugged him tight. So tight Tyler could feel his own heart crack.
He couldn't tear his eyes away from what he was seeing, blinking rapidly to avoid his eyes from getting teary. Joshua was seeing a girl. With Christmas. And she was so pretty. Long, reddish-brown hair, slim, beautiful smile. Prettier than Tyler would ever be. Why would Joshua even tell him he was pretty if he had a beautiful girl like that? Why.. Why would he ask Tyler to be his boyfriend if.. "Breakfast, Ty! Help me carry it please?" His mom's voice broke his gaze from what happened outside, Joshua's black truck backing off the driveway.
He quickly wiped his wet cheek with the back of his hand, his stomach in a knot, not a bit hungry anymore.
