"Sorry", Joshua mumbled after he opened his eyes again. He lifted his head, his arms still locked around Tyler as he looked up to the boy. "F-for what?" Tyler smiled softly, not pulling his hand back yet out of Joshua's soft curls. "Falling asleep", Joshua yawned, his eyes watery and sleepy. "But you're so comfy", he chuckled softly. "I-I d-didn't mind", Tyler answered in all honesty.

"So", the older started. "Do you have plans for New Years Eve?" The boy quickly avoided Joshua's eyes when he shook his head. He never had plans. He didn't really have friends like that. Only friends that were 'friends' on school. They never met afterwards. "Good", Joshua hummed as he rubbed his cheek against the soft fabric of Tyler's hoodie again, getting a comfortable spot to rest his head again. "G-good? W-why?" Tyler frowned.

"Because that would mean I probably wouldn't be seeing you. And I want you to be with me so I can get my New Years Kiss", he chuckled.
"B-but I c-can't just l-leave m-my mom alone a-at New Y-years Eve.." Tyler stammered. He would feel so quilty if she was alone at a time like that. He was used to just keeping her company. "You can both come over here? It's always a sort of tiny family reunion at my place with new years." Tyler shrugged, "I-I d-don't know." He was anxious about what people would be here and anxious that he would het anxious. He sighed.

Joshua propped himself up on his elbows, looking at the younger in concern. "I know you get anxious Ty. But it's not scary people. It's kind of the family I have... And I don't want to be without you." Tyler's heart fluttered a little at that. "W-who's coming t-then?"

Joshua smiled softly. "Ashley, my sister. You could finally meet her. I told her about you and I swear she will love you, and you'll two get along. She's really poetic, I don't know why, but I think you to will match just fine." Tyler nodded, anxiety and excitement mixing a bit. "And then Brendon is coming over with his girlfriend Sarah, who is the opposite of him. She's calm, quiet but still really funny at times. And Brendon's dad Boyd is coming, who is alone since a few years after Brendon's mom died. He's really cool tho, like this big guy with a tiny heart. That's it." Joshua smiled. "My weird, combined family. But not complete without you." Tyler smiled softly. "Will you please come? Please ask your mom to come over? Please, please?" Joshua blinked, fluttering his eyelashes before both started laughing. "O-okay, I will a-ask."

"Y-you really t-think your s-sister will like me?" Tyler asked curiously, and he was really not so sure. He didn't find himself so likeable, and he was still not really used to the fact that someone (especially like Joshua) would like him, but also other people. Joshua booped Tyler's nose with his finger, seeing the doubt in the boys eyes. "Hey, look at me. Ofcourse she will. Why do you think she wouldn't?"

Tyler looked at Joshua shyly, brushing one of his curls off of his forehead. He shrugged. "B-because most p-people usually d-don't?" It sounded like a question, but he knew it was true. He was just scared of saying it. "What do you mean Tyler. Who?" Joshua sat up a bit more, worried look on his face. "N-nevermind", Tyler mumbled, cheeks softly pink.
"I like you? A lot. Like a whole damn lot. Your mom likes you? Brendon likes you? I know my sister likes you? Then who doesn't like you Ty?" Josh grabbed one of Tyler's hands, to keep them from picking at his cuticles. He locked his fingers with Tyler's smaller ones.

"My dad", Tyler whispered, looking away bashfully. "People at school." Joshua sat up now, tilting the boy's head upwards to meet his eyes. "Your dad is an idiot to walk out on you, Ty. A fool. But what people at school, baby? Who? Do they pick on you? Because if they do I swear I will g-", Tyler placed his hand over Joshua's mouth quickly. "Just p-people. N-nevermind".

"No, darling, I do mind. Do they hurt you?" Joshua's face showed a mixture of concern and anger and a sort of determination to exterminate anyone who ever hurt Tyler. It made him feel save and secure, but still weak. He shook his head. A lie. "N-no. Just laughing.. and w-words." Another lie. "Words can hurt too, baby." Joshua stated softly. A simple sentence, but a big impact and Tyler couldn't stop the soft sob from escaping.

"No, no, no don't cry, baby, please, It'll be okay." Joshua sat up and pulled Tyler up to his chest. "I'll help you. We'll make it stop. I'm so sorry Ty." Joshua rocked him back and forth but it was too late to avoid the anxiety attack Tyler felt coming up, thinking about going back to school next week. He squeezed Joshua's biceps as he started to breathe irregular. "J-J-Joshua i'm i'm i'm hav-", he panted, squeezing harder, eyes opening wide.

Joshua knew what was going on immediatly and he took Tyler's face between his hands. "Hey. Hey! Look at me. Breathe. Breathe with me. Focus." He took a deep breath in, held it for a bit, before exhaling again. Tyler's eyes were wide open, his hands gripping onto the man so tight he might leave bruises, his heart racing. He tried to focus on Joshua's words, but his mouth was wide open and still not capable of getting in any oxygen.

Only after a few minutes he found himself able to breathe in the same pace as Joshua. "... two, three, four... you're okay Tyler. You're okay. Just breathe. I'm right here with you. You're doing good."

Tyler breathed with Joshua for a few more minutes, before he started to notice his surroundings again. His hands nearly cramped as his grip got softer, his eyes got back to normal and the anxiety slowly went down. Joshua still had his hands on the boys cheeks watching him intensely. "Better?" He questioned carefully. Tyler nodded, still breathing conciously.

"I-I d-don't want t-to talk a-about it n-now", Tyler spoke softly, even before Joshua could say anything about it. The older nodded, letting it go for now. He would figure things out later. Nobody was allowed to hurt his boy, in whatever way. He would make sure of it.
