The weekend had gone by as if it only lasted a few hours. The aftermath of Tyler's anxiety attack that friday was heavier than he expected, so on saturday he slept a lot and did some assignments for school. Sunday after church he went for Subway with his mom and just watched Netflix. Mentally preparing for another week of school.

Joshua had been busy all weekend, so more contact than a few texts they didn't have. Tyler missed him already.

--

Tyler looked up as he was sitting on the front porch, knees pulled up to his chest, hidden underneath his winter coat. His soft pink scarf was tightly knotted around his neck, up to his ears. But he was so cold, so cold, sitting here for about 45 minutes now.

He heard a car coming closer, silently praying his mom was off work early. But it wasn't their red car. Ofcourse it wasn't. His mom wouldn't be home for at least another hour.

So he did look up again when he noticed it was Joshua's black truck, and it drove by towards their driveway. He saw Joshua step out, slightly fading pink curls visible above the roof of his truck. Tyler gazed from his spot at the porch, not moving, not saying anything, not wanting the bother Joshua after a busy day. He probably just wanted to relax anyway.

He kept observing as Joshua walked back the driveway, to open up the mailbox and grabbing whatever was in there. The moment he turned back to the house, his gaze fell on Tyler's house and the boy shivering on the porch.

Joshua stood still, watching him, probably quite confused. He stuck his hands in his pockets, before walking towards Tyler.

"Hi."
"H-hi."
"Uhm... can I ask why are you sitting out here in the freezing cold?" Joshua raised an eyebrow, the little scar still quite visible. It looked cool though.
"I-I forgot my k-keys, and my m-mom isn't h-home yet."

Joshua crouched in front of the boy, smiling sweetly while grabbing one of the boy's wrists. "Darling, you're freezing. Come." He stood back up, pulling Tyler back on his feet. His body felt stiff and sore from sitting so long and he groaned softly. "B-but I d-don't want to b-be a b-bother, y-you don-."
"Tyler, stop. You are never a bother. I don't even want you to think that."

Tyler looked up at the man apologetic.
Joshua looked at him as if he wanted to shake some sense into Tyler, frustrated with the boy's insecurity. "Come on. You don't really think i'm gonna leave you out in the cold here?"
Tyler shrugged. He just couldn't get used to the fact someone, specifically someone like Joshua, would care for him.

They started walking towards Joshua's house. "Do you remember what I told you up on the rooftop friday?" Tyler thought about it. He remembered a lot, but he had been so tired that he couldn't exactly.
"I told you, first of all, that I like you. And that I just wanted you with me. I like everything better with you."
Tyler's cheeks flushed heavily, finally color returning to his pale, cold face.
"And I meant it, Ty. I just gotta figure out a way to make you believe it."
Joshua nudged his arm and smiled.
Tyler melted.
