And then they were home. Or well, at Joshua's home, and the man had tossed his bag on the staircase and before he could properly turn around, Tyler had clung on to him as if he had been lost for weeks. He pulled himself close to Joshua, his own cheek pressed against the man's chest, feeling his steady heartbeat. Joshua chuckled at first, but soon stopped when Tyler didn't respond, just held him tighter. "Hey Ty, darling, what's wrong?" His caramel voice dripped with concern, trying to get Tyler to look at him, but failing as Tylers grip only got stronger.
No holding back anymore, tears ran down Tyler's cheeks, one side immediatly being absorbed by Joshua's shirt. He hiccuped and sobbed, making his ribs hurt so bad now the painkillers no longer worked. He felt Joshua's heartrate speed up, the longer he didn't answer and cried more. "Ty, please, talk? What's going on?"
Joshua squatted down a bit, lifting the boy up by sliding his hands under his thighs. Tyler moved his arms to be around Joshua's neck, now crying even more because how much his chest hurt. He couldn't even breathe properly and crying only made it ten times worse. He didn't want to cry, he promised himself he wouldnt. But the the effect of the painkillers was completely gone even before they got back home, the car ride hurt and he had just missed Joshua. And he really, really wanted to be happy because he was back now, and he was, but everything else sucked so bad so he couldn't stop crying, no matter how much he hated it.
Joshua carried him towards the couch, him sitting down carefully, automatically making the younger boy straddle him. Tyler sobbed a few more times into the man's neck, before shakily giving him a "sorry."
"Ty, look at me."
The boy took some shaky breaths before pushing himself off of Joshua's chest a bit, whining because of the pain. Joshua's eyes were so sad, so concerned and Tyler immediatly felt guilty for ruining his night back home.
"I'm s-so s-sorry for ruining t-this night", Tyler whispered.
"You're not ruining anything, Tyler. Just, please, tell me what's wrong?" Joshua pleaded, desperate.
Tyler took a deep breath, very well aware that there was no turning back now. He had to tell Joshua what happened. Tyler looked down at Joshua's hands on his hips. "It h-hurts", he whispered.
"Baby, what hurts?" Joshua questioned, sitting up more, forcing the younger to look at him. He looked like he was going to burst if Tyler didn't tell him what was going on really soon.Tyler sat back on Joshua's thighs a little more, cheeks so warm, so embarrassed about what happened and how he wasn't even able to take care of himself. He bashfully caught Joshua's eyes, sighing softly. Slowly he got hold of the hem of his sweater, gaining confidence to pull it up.
Once he did, silence fell. Tyler's heart dropped when he saw Joshua's heart break inside his eyes. He didn't speak, and normally Tyler would've expected someone to get mad at him, but right now he didnt. He saw Joshua's strong composure crumble as his eyes got more glossy and the boy felt the immense urge to take care of Joshua for once. So he let go of his sweater, biting the pain with a little whimper as he leaned forward, holding Joshua's face between his hands. Then, as he buried his face into the man's warm neck and pressed little kisses into it, he whispered softly. "P-please don't b-be sad."
But he knew Joshua was sad, amongst other emotions. The man's hand travelled upto Tyler's cheeks ever so softly, not wanting him to be hurt. With his face safely in Joshua's hands the man pressed a kiss onto Tyler's forehead. Joshua sighed softly, and Tyler knew it was only because he was desperately holding back his real feelings. "I'm going to grab you some painkillers, and then I'll run you a bath, okay?" Tyler nodded silently, squeezing his eyes shut as Joshua kissed his forehead once more. The little movement he had to make to scramble off of Joshua's lap was killing, and he tried to hold himself strong as good as possible.
Joshua quickly got to the bathroom, Tyler heard him rummage through a cabinet and then he heard quick steps coming down the stairs. He got a glass of water from the kitchen before sitting down next to Tyler softly, while the boy was bend over his own legs, his body hurting too much to even sit up straight. "Here, can you take these for me?" His voice was even sweeter than ever, but a slight bitter ran through it, as if anger was going to break its way through any second.
