"Are you going to tell me what's wrong Tyler?" His mom asked eventually after he had been poking his fork into his pancake for at least 15 minutes. "N-nothing", he mumbled.
"You were all cheery waking up, and suddenly you're not. Don't give me that nonesense Tyler", she replied, a bit more stern this time.
He sighed. He didn't want to tell his mom what he saw. He didn't even want to think about it, he didn't want to cry and he certainly would if she didn't stop questioning him now.
"Talk."
"Isawjoshuawithagirl", he blurted in one soft, quick mumble. His mom raised an eyebrow. "Okay? And that got you upset?" His mom made him feel like a stupid little kid, like it was the silliest thing to ever get upset about. He shrugged. "S-she w-was very p-pretty..."
"Honey, that you saw him with a pretty girl doesn't mean anything?" Tyler jumped up, his face beaming in frustration. "WELL SHE H-HUGGED HIM A-AND HE S-SMILED AT H-HER, OKAY!" He yelled to his mom, while she totally didn't deserve any of it and he started crying and ran upstairs.
The door closed with a bang, he dropped on his bed, face down into the pillow, groaning in utter annoyance. He was so irritated with his own behaviour, but he couldn't help feeling so betrayed and jealous.
His mom let him have his moment, before opening his bedroom door after a minute or 10. She sat down on his bed, pulling him up into a cuddle. "Msorry", Tyler mumbled.
"It's Christmas, Tyler. The girl could be a friend of his. Or, didn't you mention he has a sister? Maybe she's here for Christmas." Tyler perked up at that. Could it be his sister? But she was in Miami... but it was Christmas after all?
"You need to trust him Tyler, if you two are going to be together. He will talk to other people. Friends, collegues, strangers. All kinds of people you don't know. That doesn't mean every pretty person is a threat, sweetheart." Tyler nodded, realizing maybe he overreacted a bit. Or a lot.
She smiled. "Now why don't you just text him a Merry Christmas and ask whatever he is doing today. And then join me back for breakfast, because I definitely can't eat all that." Tyler couldn't help but giggle a bit. "M okay, b-be right t-there."
He grabbed his phone from his pillow to text Joshua, and he gasped softly as he saw he had two messages from his boyfriend. His mom stopped walking out, leaning against the doorframe expectantly.
"Oops", the boy chuckled embarresed, with dark pink cheeks.
💕💕Joshua💕💕:
Merry Christmas baby 💛. Hope you have a wonderful day. What are your Christmas plans?
💕💕Joshua💕💕:
I wanted to come see you today, but my sister's here and we're driving up to my old town to 'visit' my mom and dad. Won't be home early, so I guess I'll just see you tomorrow 💛
He summarized it quickly to his mom, who shook her head softly in an I-told-you-so way. "Trust him a little Ty..." she added before she headed back downstairs. He quickly typed a text back to Joshua, telling him he would visit his grandfather today. He might have filled the rest of the text with hearts to make up for the terrible behaviour Joshua didn't even know about.
