Joshua sighed. He expected the question back, ofcourse he did. He knew Tyler would ask him, after he had answered the same question. He shuffeled down a bit, more comfortable resting his head of the pillows of the couch.

"My family. There is not much left really."
Tyler looked up towards him, his slender fingers gently folding around the collar of Joshua's grey sweater.
"I only have my sister Ashley." He smiled softly, talking about her. "But I don't see her a lot. She's 22 and goes to Law School in Miami. She's the smart one", he laughed. "We still talk quite often though."

"N-no mom or d-dad?" Tyler asked quietly, slightly scared to really say it out loud. He repeatedly ran his finger up and down the stubble on Joshua's throat.

Joshua shook his head. "Not anymore, no. They were amazing people, but for some reason they had to die really young." He sighed. Somehow pulling Tyler even closer as if holding onto something helped him cope.

"My mom died when I was 6 years old. She was walking to her car, to go home from work. She was a nurse at the cities hospital, and some stupid drunk guy hit her with his car as she crossed the street. He ignored a red light, ran her over, and left her there to die and drove off." Tyler gasped, feeling Joshua's heart slam in his chest. "Oh-oh my g-gosh i'm s-so sorry J-Joshua.."

"She would've survived if he had helped her. But he left her in the freezing cold and she died in the ambulance." He sighed. "She was really a sweet mom. Like yours. Caring, open, just full of love. After that it was just me, my dad and my sister..."

"W-was he nice t-too?" Tyler saw the small smile return on Joshua's face. "Yeah, he was. I mean, he struggled. Taking care of us, missing our mom. Ashley was only 3. Combined with trying to cope with the loss of his wife and working more than fulltime... But he did an amazing job."

Joshua's fingers found their way back to Tyler's fluffy hair and it was quiet for a while, both letting things settle for a bit, focussing on the fingers in soft brown hair.

"My dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was 15, and he died a year later. Losing my mom was so sudden and horrible, but having to see someone suffer like that is as terrible too. Ashley and I lived at my grandmother for a few years after that, but I got a little studio when I was 19. Ashley moved out when she started to study. And my grandmother passed away last year. So, now there's nobody left but me and Ash."

Tyler propped himself up, leaning on Joshua's chest to face him directly. Doodle jumped off, annoyed and strutted back to the kitchen. "But t-then.. I-is there n-nobody who takes c-care of y-you?" Tyler asked, concern written on his face.
Joshua smiled. "No. But I think I can take good care of myself by now. And maybe I'm just better at taking care of others."

Tyler hummed, his eyes still gliding over Joshua's pretty features. And he was brave enough to kiss the man's lips before nuzzling his face into his neck. "M-maybe I c-can take c-care of you a b-bit."

"Hm, yeah, maybe you can." Joshua smiled.
