Scott looked over at Mitch who was sitting on the couch, chatting with Matt and Kirstie and closed the door to the guest room.
"So, you kept the Stray?" Avi hummed.
"Will you please not call him that? He isn't a Stray." Scott snapped.
"He technically is until you Mark him. Which I hope you aren't doing." Avi said, sitting on the guest bed. "We all know what happened the last time you tried Marking an Omega.
Scott's blood went cold and he leaned against the wall. "That was a one time thing, it isn't going to happen again."
"Two time thing, Scott. Haven't we told you this? First it was Mason then Mark. You don't remember Mason because you were that out of control. If it happens twice, it's bound to happen a third time. This is why we're trying to keep you away from the Stray. We're looking out for you."
"It's not going to happen again. I'm better now." Scott repeated.
"It's been four years since you tried marking Mason, two since Mark and another two years go by and now you have Mitch. It's going to happen again and you know it is." Avi said, standing up and going to stand in front of Scott. "We're looking out for you, Scott, and the Omega. We can't have this situation every two years."
"I'm better." Scott snapped. "It's not going to happen again."
"You said that when you had Mark!" Avi barked. "It's going to happen again and you know it, Pup!"
Scott grabbed Avi's shoulders and turned him around, slamming him against the wall and holding his arm against Avi's neck to keep him still. "Don't you ever call me that again. I'm superior over you. Technically I am the Lead Alpha of this pack but since I'm not a part of the Pack, I'm letting you keep that position. I would watch your mouth if I were you." Scott growled, his red eyes threathening to show and that back of his lips lifting up as he snarled.
"Get the hell off of me." Avi shoved Scott away from him. "I'm looking out for you, Scott."
Scott took in a deep breath and stormed out of the room, slamming the door closed behind him which practically shook the entire lower part of the house. Mitch, Kevin, Kirstie and Matt looked over from the couch and Mitch stood up, running over and grabbing Scott's hand but Scott refused the action.
"Look, just please don't right now." He whispered, tears in his eyes. Mitch bite his lip and he nodded. "Come on, we're going home."
"Yes, sir." Mitch walked back to the couch where he left a gift bag Kirstie had given him and picked it up gently. He waved bye to the others and followed Scott out of the house, slowly closing the door behind him. Once he finally shut the door, he noticed Scott was already halfway down the sidewalk and he practically ran to catch up but stayed a few feet behind.
The two got to the apartment fairly quickly and Scott hadn't looked behind him once during the walk. He nearly shut the door in Mitch's face but heard Mitch's squeak of surprise and was quick to hold it open as Mitch stumbled in.
"Just... Go to your room. I need some time." Scott mumbled.
"But, Alpha, I have something to show you and -"
"Mitch, please. J-Just go to your room." Scott ordered, shutting the front door and locking it before walking around Mitch to his own room.
Mitch watched him leave and he let out a sigh as he went to his room and shut the door behind him. He sat on his bed and set the gift bag in front of his bedside table then grabbed his folder from under the bed. He rested his back against the wall and tossed one of his blankets over his legs. He opened the folder and made some final touches to his drawing before grabbing a clean sheet of paper and doodling flowers. He eventually got hungry and he shut his folder and set it aside as he climbed off of the bed.
He walked out of his room and walked across the hall to knock gently on Scott's bedroom door. He didn't hear anything come from the room for a few minutes and he opened the door, slowly pushing it open to see Scott sprawled out on the bed, a scrapbook resting on his chest. He heard soft snoring coming from Scott and he shut the door quietly.
Mitch went back to his room and turned out his light, sitting in the windowsill to stare at the disappearing sunset. He rested his head against the cold window and before he knew it, he was out like a light.
-
Once Mitch woke up, he winced at the ache in his neck and the rest of his body and realized he was still in his windowsill. Scott must've slept the whole night since the last time Mitch fell asleep on the sill, he woke up in his bed. He slowly stretched himself out and got off of the sill, cracking his neck and limps before he made his way from his room. He noticed Scott's door was still shut and he hurried over to the room, hoping Scott was awake and they could start their day.
"Alpha?" Mitch called as he tried opening the door but it didn't budge. He fiddled with the knob and when it didn't turn, he let out a sigh of defeat. He knocked on the door and didn't hear a reply just like last night. He felt a bit of tears in his eyes but refused to let them fall and went back to his room. He could handle no food for another twelve hours if he need to but his stomach rumbled and he ignored it, sitting on his bed and putting together Scott's Valentine's Day present. He grabbed the gift bag Kirstie gave him and read the note attached to it.
Hey Mitchie! I had a feeling Alpha Scott wouldn't give you back to the Shelter so I made this gift for you hoping you'll come back so I can give it to you. I know you can't go shopping by yourself for Alpha Scott so I had Alpha Kevin take me shopping. I bought a few things for you and some things for you to give to Scott, I put sticky notes on who gets what. I miss you! Come back soon!
- Kit.
Mitch smiled and pulled out two stuffed bears. One was brown that had a sticky note with Scott's name on it and the other one was blonde with Mitch's name on it. Mitch smiled and hugged the blonde bear before setting them both aside. He pulled out a large box of chocolate with his name on it and set it on the bedside, pulling a smaller box with Scott's name. He set the chocolate beside him and grabbed the final thing, a small bouquet of fake tulips with Scott's name.
Mitch put the tulips, chocolate and the bear back in the bag and tore off the note on the side and propped it up on his beside. He took a sharpie Kirstie included in the bag and wrote Scott's name on the side of the bag and drew tiny hearts on the rest of it. He giggled at his work and set the bag on the floor. He drew some more in his folder and once he got done with several drawings of flowers. He saw the sunset pooling through his window. It hit him like a truck that he was once again, alone on Valentine's Day.
