Yall crazy for thinking I'm going to bring back the Omega Scott slept with.
He's not coming till later.
No one figured out the surprise for Scott so no one gets a shoutout sadly. Maybe I'll do another one of these in the near future.
"I'm going for a run," Scott said, grabbing the house key Austin had made for him and took a water bottle from the fridge.
"Be back before midnight, Scott. I'm not waking up to come to unlock the door this time." Austin said from the couch.
"Be safe," Kelly called.
"Will do." Scott made sure he had everything he needed and left the house. He locked the door behind him, made sure his prosthetic was on correctly and took off running down the road.
Ever since Scott took up running again, he practically felt every fiber of him relax and wash away with no worry. The cool summer air helped him take his mind off of things. It also helped him gain confidence in himself again. Scott stopped halfway in his run when he spotted an ice cream vendor just down the block. He felt the kid inside of him want to run to the shop and pick out his favorite ice cream but he stopped himself from doing so.
He turned down a different street and kept running, earning himself at a dead end near a forest. Scott fixed his prosthetic and went into the forest, being careful of any surface roots or logs. He felt the afternoon rain still dripping from the leaves. Scott took out the ponytail in his hair, letting down the bun and shaking his head side to side to let his hair free.
Scott sighed at the cool feeling of the leftover rain dripping down on his bare shoulder and neck. He turned to leave the forest and was stopped when he heard a soft bark. He turned back around and peered around the trees, seeing a small box sitting by a tree trunk. Scott raised an eyebrow and walked over to it, jumping when something hopped out of the soaking wet box and shook the water from its fur, falling on its shoulder before getting back up and looking around.
Scott walked over and bent down, seeing the thing run over to him, barking softly. The dog finally got into the moonlight and Scott was able to see the three-legged puppy, soaking wet. He smiled, opening his water bottle and holding it to the dog's lips, the puppy lapping at the water gratefully.
"What are you doing so far out, little one?" Scott mumbled, mostly to himself. He stood up after the dog had enough to drink and the puppy barked again, hopping up on his two back legs. Scott was going to leave the forest again but the dog followed, refusing to stay where he was.
-
"Beautiful," Scott mumbled when he pulled the German Shepard from the bathtub and wrapped him up in a towel. The puppy barked and started licking at Scott's face, Scott pulling him away as he got off the edge of the bathtub and carried the dog to his room. He laid the dog on the bed and dried him before sitting on the mattress.
The dog hopped down and sniffed around the floor, finding the towel Scott laid out and started peeing on it. Scott pulled his prosthetic off and set it in its casing before pulling his workout shorts off.
Scott took off his shirt and tossed his clothing into the bin. The puppy ran over, lifting his head and sniffing Scott's stump before waving his own. The blond chuckled and picked up the dog, setting him on the other side of the bed as he got under the thin sheets.
The puppy jumped on Scott's lap then limped to his chest, falling on his shoulder then getting comfortable. Scott felt weak at the newfound contact and he hesitantly reached for the puppy, rubbing his head and ears. He had never owned a dog himself but he enjoyed seeing the animals when he was running or if he saw one in a coffee shop.

Scott got down on his knee, clipping the collar around the puppy's neck and tightening it so it wouldn't slip off. The puppy wagged his tail and jumped up, placing a paw on Scott's knee. Scott picked up the dog and walked out of the Petsmart. He went to the car and got in, setting the puppy in the driver's seat where he had laid out a blanket. Scott put the bags of puppy-related items in the backseat and looked over at the dog.
"How about..." Scott set his elbow on the window sill and rested his fist in his palm as he thought about the dog's name. "Coco?" The dog looked up at Scott then laid down on the blanket. Scott chuckled and reached over, rubbing the dog's back and belly when he turned over.
When Scott got home, he let the dog roam in the backyard to use the restroom and he stood on the porch, watching carefully. He heard the back door open and he looked over, Austin coming outside with something in his hands.
"How's the dog?" Austin asked.
"He's fine. He actually seems to get around just fine without one of his legs." Scott watched the dog turn and chase a butterfly, jumping up to try and eat it only to fall and roll on his side.
"What's his name?"
"I think Coco. I don't know. I've never had a dog, I don't know how to name one." Scott shrugged. "What's that?"
"The necklace. I fixed it this morning and it's all clean and waxed." Austin said, opening his palm and dropping the chain necklace in Scott's hand.
Scott admired the necklace. "Thank you."
"Why don't you name the dog something badass like Buck or Scar?" Austin asked.
Scott stared at the dog who was still trying to chase a butterfly. "You think that's badass?"
Austin rolled his eyes. "Kelly is about to be back with food if you're hungry."
Scott waited for Austin to go back inside and call the dog over. The puppy ran over, waiting at the bottom of the porch steps for Scott to grab him.

Would it be too cheesy to name the dog Beau?
