Scott grabbed the duffle bag from the police officer and thanked him.

"You be careful out there, Alpha." Scott nodded and left the jailhouse, seeing an old friend, Austin Macedo standing outside his car, waiting for him. The bearded man pushed himself off his car and stomped his cigarette out.

"Hey, man. You look awful." Austin said, shaking Scott's hand.

"Thanks, Taylor." Scott huffed, going to the back of the car and throwing his bag in. "How have you been? It's been years."

"Fine. I finally grew the balls to ask Kelly to marry me. The wedding was two years ago." Austin said and got in the car after Scott.

"Wow," Scott mumbled and toyed with his prison outfit.

"So, how about you? Meet any special?"

Scott took in a deep breath. "I did but we're taking some time apart. I'm not ready."

"Is this about the whole Savage thing?" Austin asked as he pulled from the police station and down the freeway.

"Yeah. I fucked up way too many times." Scott sighed. "I thought I was ready, I had pups with him, got him pregnant again a-and I Marked him. I don't want to say it was a mistake because it wasn't. I don't regret any of it but I just needed some time to myself, work everything out. You understand, right?"

Austin glanced over at Scott and nodded. "Yeah, I do. Want a smoke? You sound very stressed." Austin offered, pointing to his box of cigarettes in the cup holder.

"Haven't had one in years, guess it won't hurt anything." Scott huffed.

-

"Thanks again for letting me stay here, Austin," Scott said as he tossed his bag onto the guest bed and started taking off his prison clothes. "I'll be out of your hair in maybe a week or so. I'm looking into renting out a few Airbnb."

"Take your time. I don't mind housing you for a while." Austin said, patting Scott's shoulder before leaving the room. Scott threw his clothes into the laundry bin Austin gave him and he fished through his bag for fresh laundry before leaving to the restroom.

Scott turned on the shower and stepped in automatically, refusing to let the water warm up. He sighed at the feeling of the pressure of the water and shut his eyes enjoying the feeling as much as possible.

Mitch took the ring box from Avi after taking off his ring. He set the ring in the box and closed it hesitantly. He ran his fingers over the texture of the box before handing it back.

"And you're sure you want to do this?" Avi asked.

"No. But I don't want him to keep being on my mind. It's going to distract me and he wanted space so I'm going to give it to him." Mitch said. "It doesn't make sense but I just don't want the ring around me."

Mitch followed Avi to Kevin's room and the Alpha went into the closet where the safe was covered by a pile of clothes.

"Well, when you want to see it again, it'll be in here. You know the keycode to it." Avi said, opening the safe, putting the ring box then shut the safe and spinning the lock to make sure it was locked correctly.

"Thank you, Alpha." Mitch left the room and back down to the living room where Quinn was throwing her toys at her brother. "Quinn, be nice!"

Quinn shouted at Mitch then crawled over to them, raising her arms for him. Mitch picked her up then carried her to the dining room where he put her in a high chair. Quinn knew what was coming and squealed happily, kicking her feet as Mitch went to the kitchen and returned with a bowl of macaroni.

When Mitch left to round up the other two kids, Quinn shoved her hand into her bowl, grabbed a handful of the macaroni and shoved her fist into her mouth.

Mitch put Cody and Bailey in their high chairs and fixed them their bowls of macaroni, putting it on the table and letting them eat like wild dogs.

"Mitch?" Matt knocked lightly on the entrance of the kitchen and dining room, startling Mitch. Mitch turned around, raising his eyebrow.

"Yes?"

"Why don't you go on up to bed? It's late, you need sleep." Matt asked. "I'll watch them and give them a bath after they're done eating."

Mitch sighed and turned back around to fave the kids who were busy shoveling handfuls of macaroni into their mouths. "A-alright. Thank you, Matt."

"Get some rest, Mitchie." Matt brought Mitch into a hug and kissed his head gently before letting him go upstairs.

Mitch hurried up the steps as he stripped off his shirt and he tossed his shirt into the dirty laundry bin as he entered the guest room. Mitch sat on the edge of the bed and set his hands on his knees, his face in his hands. He thought to himself for a moment then stood up, kicking his pants off and rolling under the covers. He faced the opposite side of the bed and he reached forward, trailing his fingers over the cold side of the mattress.

I'm thinking of when I end this book, I want to do a sequel. I don't know what it'll be or what the plot will be but I'm still thinking about it.
