You guys, please don't DM or comment bad stuff about Scott smoking. I don't appreciate people saying that smoking is bad and terrible for one's health. I for one don't condone smoking but if I choose to make a character smoke, then I choose to make a character smoke. If you don't like it, you don't have to read it.

Scott pulled his pack of cigarettes from the cup holder, placing one in his mouth and lighting it. He stuck the lighter back in the pack of cigarettes and set it in the cup holder. He shifted in his seat, still having trouble getting used to driving with his left foot instead of his right. He rolled down the window and took a few puffs from the cigarette before letting it fall on the road.

Scott pulled off the freeway and rolled down a dirt road for nearly an hour before he pulled up towards the battlefield he once was on. He parked the car and got out, walking over to the front lines and looked down in the ditch to see pools of blood stained dirt, blown off limbs and several soldiers lifting their dead friends and teammates onto gurneys. Scott watched and followed one of the gurneys and was allowed to lift the blanket. He squeezed his eyes shut then let the blanket fall back down.

Scott huffed and walked into the battlefield, seeing a familiar necklace and bending down. He picked up the broken pieces and lifted them to his face, sniffing them and whimpering lowly.

Of course, they'd send Beau into the suicide pack. Don't know why they couldn't just tell me instead of lying.

Scott stood back up and he stuck the broken necklace into his pocket while walking around. He didn't see anything else that belonged to Beau. He took a ride in a truck passing by and was glad they stopped at the rear lines. He jumped out when the truck stopped and carefully skidded down into the ditch, looking around and spotting something important to him. He ran over, moving the dirt with the toe of his shoe and bending down to pick up the object.

"Finally..." He whispered, running his fingers over the necklace Mitch had gifted him for his birthday. He had forgotten about it long after he had to return home but remembered it after he found out Beau was "missing". He tucked the necklace into his pocket as well, walking back up the ditch to see the truck about to leave. He noticed the back of it was filled to the brim with bodies and he set his feet on the step under the doors, his arm clinging to the inside of the truck as he rode the rest of the way back to the main base.

He hopped off and rushed back to his truck. He leaned forward, resting his chin on the steering wheel. He huffed and sat back up, starting the car and leaving the base.

-

"Hey, you're back late," Austin said when he saw Scott come into the house. "Did you go to the base? You smell like dirt."

"Yeah. I found the necklace my Omega gifted me and the necklace that belonged to Beau. Vincint had given him it and I figured I could find a way to repair it, give it back to him."

Austin set down his oven mitts and walked over to Scott, holding his hands out. "Can I see it?" Scott nodded, taking the necklace from his pocket and handing it over to Austin before pulling off his military jacket. He went to the laundry room and threw it in the washer while doing his best to pull off his sweats without falling over.

He looked through the backdoor, seeing the house behind Austin's with their back porch lit up. A male Alpha and male Omega stood on the porch, both of them chatting and laughing at each other. Scott smiled and looked at the washer again. He grabbed Austin's laundry basket and threw in his clothes before pouring in the soap and starting the machine. He left the washing room and sat Austin had laid the necklace on a hand towel and was rolling it up.

"I'll work on it tonight, see what I can do with it."

"Thank you. What are you making?"

"Roast. You ever made one?" Austin set the rolled up necklace aside and put his oven mitts back on. He went to the oven, opened it and pulled out the roast sat inside a pot filled with gravy, baby carrots, red potatoes and regular chopped potatoes with the skin still on them.

"I have but mine always come out too tender or too juicy. Do you have any tips?" Scott asked, smiling at the thought of when he tried to teach Mitch how to make a roast.

-

"Alpha? Is it ready yet?" Mitch called from the kitchen. He was crouched down in front of the oven, peering inside of it and squinting.

"Take it out and see," Scott called back. He was busy trying to make the television work again and he jumped when he heard a screech from the kitchen, a small clang, and a cry.

"Alpha!" Mitch cried, running over to Scott and holding his hands out as he hopped on his feet. "It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!"

Scott dropped the remote in his hands and dragged Mitch back into the kitchen, turning the sink on and bringing Mitch's hands under the cold water.

"What were you thinking, love?" Scott scolded, crouching down and opening the cabinet under the sink. He grabbed the small medic kit and set it on the edge of the sink.

Mitch sniffled and looked up at Scott with teary eyes. "I was just excited to see it and I forgot about the mitts. I'm sorry, sir."

"You're alright, love. Everyone's done it once in their lives."  Scott dried Mitch's hands and wrapped them in gauze, he then kissed Mitch's hands and looked at him. "Just be careful next time, you hear? You scared me."

Mitch giggled when Scott pulled him close, kissing his forehead then peppering kisses all over his face and neck.

Scott listened carefully as Austin spoke to him, explaining how to properly cook and braise a roast to cook it all the way through without overcooking it. He even taught Scott how to properly cut his vegetables and cook them briefly before putting them in the oven with the roast and gravy.

"You cook the veggies before you put them in?"

"Not usually but the way I do it makes it softer and easier to chew when it's on the plate," Austin said, stabbing a carrot with his fork and letting the gravy drip from it and then held the fork out for Scott to grab and bite off the carrot.

"Wow. I'm going to shower before it finishes cooking. Just shout if I'm not out by then." Scott said, taking a napkin and wiping his mouth before tossing it into the trashcan and hurrying upstairs.
