"Mitch?"
Mitch looked up from his phone to see Kevin hovering over him, watching him curiously.
"Everything okay?"
Mitch hummed and set his phone in his lap. "I'm just worried about Alpha Scott."
"I understand, " Kevin sat down in the booth next to Mitch and handed him a vodka and juice mixture. "I asked them not to put too much alcohol in it."
"Thank you, " Mitch took the drink and sipped then held the cup in his lap. He looked around the room where Nicole was chatting to Ryland who was sitting in Shane's lap.
There were some of Mitch's close-ish friends from college dancing around the club Nicole and Austin had rented out for a few hours. Avi and Matt were on the dance floor with Austin
"You know, you could try to have a bit of fun. I mean, it is your bachelorette party."
Mitch hummed. "I'm grateful, don't get me wrong but, I just don't like to go out without Scott and I'm not much of a big partier anymore."
"I get it, " Kevin leaned back, sipping his beer as he got comfortable. "Hey. Wanna sneak out of here? We can go back to the house play some video games."
Mitch looked up at Kevin and smiled. "Sounds perfect."
-
"No! You cheated!" Mitch yelled as he set his controller in his lap.
"I'm just good at the game!" Kevin defended, laughing when Mitch playfully punched him in the bicep. The two wrestled and ending up on top of each other on the floor, laughing loudly.
The front door opened and Mitch turned his head over. Avi and Matt walked in, carrying many bags of junk food. "If you're going to bail from the party at least send us a warning."
Mitch stood up and gasped excitedly as all his friends started piling into the house. "You guys!"
Nicole came forward and hugged Mitch tightly. "I'm sorry I went too forward with everything! You should've just told me you wanted to just stay at home!"
"I didn't want to disappoint you, Nicole. You put a lot of money into renting the club for the hours, " Mitch said. "How about me and you start a round of Mario Kart to make up for it?"
Nicole nodded and grinned, letting Mitch tug her into the living room.
-
Kevin peeked into the guest room where Mitch and Nicole were sleeping peacefully, cuddled in each other arms. He went in the room and made sure the two were covered with the blanket then left.
"Hey Kevin? Hospital," Matt came forward with Kevin's phone in his hand. Kevin shut the guest room door and held the phone up go his ear.
"Hello?"
"Alpha Kevin Olusola?" Kevin recognized the doctors voice and let out a breath, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"I'll be there soon."
"Is it Alpha Scott?" Matt asked worriedly.
"Yeah. Will you be alright with Avi and Austin here?"
"Of course. Go check on him."
Kevin took his time getting ready and drove to the hospital. He was then escorted to a special room and there he saw Scott sitting up in the small bed, his head resting against the wall behind him.
"What happened?" Scott refused to turn his head over and he sniffled, raising a hand to wipe his nose. "Is it the wedding? Is it stressing you out?"
"I was doing so good at keeping it down. Why now of all times, right before my wedding?" Scott sniffled, bringing his knees up to his chest and hiding his face in them.
Kevin's eyebrows arched up worry. It was very rare to see Scott so broken down and emotional. He walked over, sitting down on the bed and resting his hand on Scott's knee. "Is it Noah? Are you going to tell me at all?"
Scott huffed and sat up, stretching his legs out. He looked up at Kevin and tried his best to smile. "How is Mitch? Is he having fun?"
"We all went back to my house and played video games and ate a bunch of snacks. Nicole and Mitch passed out in the guest room, everyone else went home."
"Sounds like a perfect night for him, " Scott genuinely smiled at the thought of Mitch smiling and having fun with his friends.
Kevin stood up and straightened himself out. "Well, since you seem okay, I guess it's safe to say you'll be able to get home on your own?"
Scott nodded, giving Kevin a small wave before the tall black man left the room. His doctor came into the room, holding a clipboard.
"Alpha Scott. There's something we need to talk about."
-
By the time Mitch had woken up, he was met with a headache and a stomach hungry for whatever it was he desired. He turned on the bed away from Nicole and saw a bottle of aspirin and water sitting on the bedside.
He took the medicine then stood up, stretching his torso and twisting around to pop his joints before leaving the room. His mouth watered at the smell of breakfast in the kitchen. He followed the smell and saw Avi at the stove, flipping pancakes, making hashbrowns and cooking several breakfast meats.
"Avi, you're not always up this early, " Mitch said and went to the fridge. He pulled out a jug of orange juice and set it on the counter.
"The bride deserves the best breakfast possible and since I'm the best cook here..." Avi turned around to see Mitch and grinned proudly.
"How cocky of you, " Mitch snickered and looked around. "I don't smell Kevin here. Is he gone?"
Avi dropped his smile and turned back to the stove. "He's just out running early errands."
Mitch knew by Avi's tone that something was definitely wrong but he decided not to push it and just poured himself a glass of juice then went back to the guest room.
