Scott crawled out from the dug up pit and rolled onto his back, breathing heavily.
"Come on, Hoying! Two more miles to go!" Scott got to his feet and started running as fast as he could. He dropped to his stomach just a mile in and crawled under the barbed wire, immediately jumping to his feet once he was out. He climbed the tall wall, jumping from it and wincing as pain shot through his calf up to his knee.
Beau dropped down next to Scott and grasped his shoulder. "You alright?"
"Sloane! Keep it moving!"
Beau gave Scott an apologetic look before taking off. Scott followed behind with a small limp in his run. He jumped into the next ditch, gasping in pain as his leg burned worse. He leaned against the wall of the pit for a breather, his teammates dropping in beside him, taking a glance before climbing out.
-
"It seems you pulled your sciatica nerve that runs down your spine to the back of your leg where you say your pain mostly is at. You have scoliosis, correct Scott?" The doctor said, trailing his finger down the back of Scott's leg.
Scott mumbled his reply and rolled onto his rear end and winced at the pain.
"It will be troubling when sitting down though it won't hurt as bad when you're standing up, so I suggest laying on your stomach so your backside doesn't have as much pressure on it."
"What about the war? Am I going to get benched for this?" Scott asked, standing up and running his hands through his hair. He grumbled to himself and reached for his camo coat and pulled it on.
"I wouldn't say you're going to get benched as long as you heal up before you get drafted. Just let me take some draw some blood and get you some antibiotics for that." The doctor left the room and Beau walked in, jumping up to sit on the bed.
"So, what'd he say?"
"Pulled a nerve." Scott groaned. "The doctor is going to prescribe me some medicine to try and get the nerve to heal."
"Are you going to get benched?"
"I'm not too sure." Scott jumped when his phone vibrated and pulled it from his coat pocket, seeing Mitch was Facetiming him. He smiled and held out his phone, answering the call.
A loud squeal came from the phone, startling Beau. Scott saw Cody on the screen and giggled.
"Cody! Why do you have my phone!" Scott heard Mitch's voice and soon, Cody was picked up and the phone was taken from him.
"Oh, hi Alpha!" Mitch held out the phone and smiled. "I'm sorry, I left Cody to watch some videos but I guess he figured out how to call you."
"It's all good, Omega. How are you?" Scott smiled and walked over to Beau to get him in the camera view.
"I'm fine. The babies have been a handful today. Wait- No! Bailey, don't eat that!" Mitch set the phone down and ran out of the frame, returning with both Bailey and Cody in his arms. The babies gnawed at their own fists and leaned against Mitch's chest.
"Where's Avi and the others?"
"Avi is pooping, Kevin is out at the grill and Matt is cleaning the pool," Mitch said, finally sitting on the couch to be able to hold the kids on his lap and hold the phone in one of his hands. "Where are you at?"
"The military hospital," Beau said for Scott. "Your Alpha pulled a nerve in his leg and had to stop training short."
"You guys are still training? It's been several months."
"Yeah, we haven't gotten any orders so we just train until we do get orders." Scott shrugged.
"Oh. Any chance you know when you can come visit?" Mitch suggested.
"I wish I knew, baby. Listen, the doctor's going to be in a second, I'll call you later if I can."
"Okay, love you Alpha."
"Love you too, baby." Scott hung up the call and tucked his phone into his pocket.
"You guys are disgustingly cute." Beau gagged.
-
Mitch set the phone down and jumped when two hands clamped on his shoulders. He hopped off the couch, holding Cody and Bailey close as he turned around, Avi standing behind him with a smirk.
"Don't do that, Alpha Avi!" Mitch squealed. Cody gurgled and reached for Avi, the bearded male taking him.
"I heard you talking to Scott. How is he?" Avi asked, walking around the couch and sitting down, Mitch across from him.
"He pulled a nerve in his leg. Had to go to the military hospital." Mitch responded, letting Bailey crawl on the floor.
"Did he ever get his birthday presents?"
"I think he did. I'm pretty sure I saw him wearing the necklace I got him. I'll ask him the next time he calls, Sir."
"Dinner is served!" Kevin called, walking in from the balcony."
