It's hard to open up to someone and lay bare all of your secrets. It's even harder to try and get them to understand you, to get them to love all of your flaws. But the most difficult thing to do is to get them to love you, despite everything that you are and everything you've been.
It could just be me, but I feel more lucky than I should with the man that fell in love with me.
Because he accepted every single flaw I had, and he proved to me that he really is the closest to flawless person in the world. Patient, understanding, loyal. He'll let you be whoever you want to be, as long as it doesn't hurt the people he loves. And he will do anything for them.
I'm lucky to have him for my own.
"Tae, baby, where's my super suit? Have you seen it lately?"
"Yes, I have, Kook, it's in its normal case. Why? Do you need it?"
"Unfortunately. Burning building a few miles away. Will you be okay whilst I'm gone?"I smile fondly at him, as he rushes over to press his lips against my cheek gently before rushing off to find his costume. "I think I'll survive," I joke, watching as he whizzes back into the room, dressed in golden spandex. He chuckles, his black mask twirling in his hands as he returns to me again, embracing me gently before waving once and putting on the mask. "Go on, Golden Boy. I'll make sure there's some dinner waiting for you on the table when you get back, yeah?"
Even through the material hiding his face, I can see the wide smile he uses only for me. "Thank you, baby. I'll try not to be too long."
"Just stay safe, love. That's all I ask." He nods, understanding my serious tone as he always does, and leaves, hurrying out of the front door with such speed that I wonder if he's even visible anymore. We've been dating for five years now, and I still worry about him every time he goes out on a mission like this, even though I'm well aware that he's capable of looking after himself. Super speed, strength and senses coupled with a literally electrifying power help him to be one of the most loved heroes of the century. He's foiled horrible plots, saved over a billion lives, and broken into numerous criminal meetings.
He's turning twenty in a few weeks.
I've known 'Golden Boy', as he's known to the public, since he was a five year old child. He's always been that little bit more skilled than all of us. It was just a mutation in his genes, something his parents couldn't understand or explain to anyone. They kept it secret for years. They hid how powerful he was from the whole world.
We got together when he was fourteen and I was sixteen, a few weeks after he showed me that he was a little bit more than human. He was beating himself up (metaphorically speaking, of course), worrying that he had to protect the world from himself. That he had to end his life before he became a danger to those he loved.
I just told him that those that loved him would never recover, and he didn't believe me. He wanted proof that there was someone out there that would love him.
I grabbed his face in my hands and I kissed him, on impulse.
We became an official couple maybe five seconds later.
I came with him on his first outing to visit the designer that would eventually provide him with the costume he wears today (fireproof, specifically designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, with a hidden Bluetooth connection to his phone just in case I need him (as per his request) and extremely conductive). He was maybe sixteen years old at the time, still shy and terrified of letting down those he loved. He still didn't like to meet new people on his own, hence why I offered to come along.
