"Wake up, hyung. I made your favourite."

My best friend's eyes slowly blink open, as I waft the enticing smell of pancakes under his nose, and he beams at the plate that's about two centimetres from his face. "Foooddddd," he mumbles, still half asleep, and I chuckle slightly, nodding.
"You can't eat it asleep," I point out persuasively, and he sighs, lifting his hands to rub the sleep out of his eyes as I stand up and back off a little.

"I guess that's true," he replies after a few seconds, glancing down at the bed for a moment in confusion as he realises where he is. "Wait, how did I get here? Isn't this-"

"My bed? Yeah," I say awkwardly, placing the plate of pancakes on the dresser as I speak, "you fell asleep during Iron Man 2 so I figured you wouldn't mind if I carried you over here." He nods, and then blushes slightly. "I slept on the couch, don't worry. I didn't do anything creepy, I swear on my life."

"Hey, I know," Taehyung says gently, frowning a little. "I trust you."
"Even though-"
"I've told you before, your sexuality doesn't change our friendship. It never will. I don't see you as some sort of pervert. You're my best friend."

I nod in understanding, ignoring the painful twist deep in my heart at the words 'best friend'. But he will never know how I feel. He's straight. Acceptance and friendship have to be enough for me. "Thanks, hyung," I say shyly, handing over the plate when I see him looking at it wistfully, "I'm sorry if these are a little burnt."

He rolls his eyes, taking the fork I give him and digging in the moment he can, eyes widening at the taste. "That bad, huh?" I ask quietly, and he shakes his head instantly.
"This is really good! How did you learn how to make these?"
"The Internet," I say sheepishly, and he laughs.
"Blatantly honest as always, Kookie," he comments, amused.

"Well, you know what I always say-" I start, and he chuckles slightly, nodding as he works out what I'm planning on saying.
"You don't like to hide the truth, I get it, Kookie," he finishes for me, and I grin, sneaking outside of the room to grab my own plate of food. "Ah, you made one for yourself as well?"

I nod, suddenly wondering if that counts as rude. "Yeah, I didn't wanna be left out of the breakfast party," I explain quietly, shyly, and he rolls his eyes, finishing his plate.
"Kook, you know I have no problem with you feeding yourself. That's a good thing, okay? Don't be so nervous. I know this is our first sleepover since you came out, but I'm not going to leave you. There's no need to be scared of anything. You haven't lost me."

I sigh, realising that I've been caught in the act of trying to act like yesterday never happened. "But if you ever feel like-"
"I don't care what the rest of Korea says, Jungkook. You're my best friend, and one of the only people I've ever trusted. I've known you for a hell of a long time. Your sexuality doesn't push me away. It just means that you trust me too, and that means a lot. Got it?" he says firmly, and I feel my face go red.

"Thank you, hyung," I say quietly, suddenly not feeling as hungry anymore. "Do you want my spare pancakes? I'm not really-"
"I'm not having you starving yourself again, young man," Taehyung says sternly, and my eyes widen at how dominant he's being.

In every other situation, I am the one in control, despite the fact that he's the one that's older than me. I decide things (with his help) and I protect him, not the other way around. I've never seen him act like this, and it's strange for me. It makes me wonder if he's hiding part of himself from me, or whether he cares more than he's ever let on.

But that couldn't possibly be true.

Could it?

"Yeah, sorry, hyung," I say shyly, continuing to eat despite the fact that I really don't feel like eating. He just smiles slightly, sitting up properly and then standing up to take his plate to the kitchen.
"Don't be sorry," he says quietly, before he leaves the room, "it just makes me upset when you treat yourself like that. You're my best friend. You mean a lot to me, you know? I don't want to lose you to your own stupidity."
