(Hey guys, so this is kinda angsty, but it's also a request from @KristaMiller732
I hope this is okay, and I know it probably wasn't what you were expecting, but I did my best to make it interesting and unique. It isn't, but it was worth a try. Thank you for requesting it!!
And also, whilst I'm here doing an author's note, y'all should check out my new Taekook analysis book. I want it to become a discussion circle for Taekook stans so it needs people that are willing to talk in order for there to be a discussion? I think that makes sense? Anyway, enjoy the one shot!)
It's weird, definitely. This is not something I was expecting to deal with, not in my lifetime. But there's something strangely thrilling about it, something that fires my imagination and sends my heart racing every time I think about it.
My parents don't have a clue who he really is, any idea why they've never met my mysterious boyfriend, and they could never understand how I managed to get his attention. They're eager to know more about him, of course they are. But I can't tell them a thing. If I do, they might tell people. Send me to a mental hospital. I don't know.
I'm just paranoid like that.
"I'm nearly done with my duties today, sweetheart, so it won't be long before I can be with you for a few hours," I hear his melodic voice say smoothly in my ear, and I nearly jump out of my skin before I realise what's happening. His beautiful laugh echoes in my head, and I roll my eyes. "You need to get used to this, babe. It happens every damn day."
"Kinda hard to do that," I mutter to myself, smiling awkwardly when the customer I'm sorting a coffee for frowns at me in confusion. "Sorry, inner thought, here's your drink," I say brightly, my smile widening when they nod in understanding, "have a wonderful day."
"Thanks," the customer says a little dully, walking away quietly.I just shrug in response, turning to glance over at the clock. I've only got a few hours left on my shift, so hopefully my elusive boyfriend will appear just as I finish, but I can never be certain. He's a little mischievous, quite loving, and sometimes very controlling, but I love him. It sounds weird, describing him in this way, but it fits him better than anything else.
Sometimes he can't turn up at all, due to prior commitments, but he can normally guess when that is, and warn me that he's going to be extra busy for whatever reason. I can often tell when he's been busy, because it turns up on the news as some natural disaster or similarly awful event.
As promised, he appears a few hours later, strolling into the café I work in casually, even his walk familiar to me. My heart picks up ever so slightly at the sight of him, and he smiles warmly at me, making his way to the counter and pressing his lips against my cheek, whispering his order for a caramel macchiato into my ear, even though I already know what he wants. He gets it every time he visits.
I'm in charge of his drink, mainly because I'm the only one who can make it properly, according to him, and I'm also the only one he's willing to tip. In reality, he only comes here because I'm here, and we both know that.
I return to the counter maybe five minutes later with his coffee, and he smiles at me ever so slightly, the expression still unfamiliar to him. "Thank you," he says, his voice barely above a murmur, and I beam at him in response. Something like this, an interaction similar to this, doesn't happen often. He's in a good mood today.
"How was today?" I ask curiously, and the side of his lip curls up in the ghost of a snarl.
"Best not to ask," he advises calmly, and I nod in understanding.
"Right, okay. I'll be off in a few minutes, ten at most, so-"
"I know," he says smoothly, leaning forward to kiss my cheek again. "I have your schedule memorised."
