(For everyone who wanted more little Tae)
"Kookie, what have you got planned today?"
"You'll see, sweetheart."
"But I wanna know now!"
"Tae, don't be impatient with me. You will find out what's going on. I promise that. Just wait a little longer. Play along with me for now, okay? Kookie's had this planned for months."He pouts, looking down at his lap and pulling his stuffed bunny closer to him. I sigh, kissing his forehead. "Come on, baby, you love surprises," I tell him quietly, and he nods, glancing up and regarding me with an adorable smile. "I'll tell you soon, anyway. I promise it's nothing bad. You trust me, right?"
He nods again, standing up when I hold out my hand for him, taking it without hesitation, causing me to smile at the certainty in his stance. He trusts me. That means more than he will ever know. I've always sort of known that he does trust me, that's true, and he must do in order to tell me about his Little Space. But moments like this just confirm it for me, and that's the precious thing for me.
I pull out my phone, checking it quickly, smiling as I notice a text from Taehyung's mother, one that tells me that I am now able to go about today without worrying about how his parents will feel about what I've got planned. Now, I can contact my own parents, and let them know that it's all going to happen today.
Even if Tae himself doesn't realise it.
"Let me just text someone quickly, then we'll get going, baby," I tell him quietly, unlocking my phone and typing a few quick messages to both pairs of parents, so they're aware of what's happening. This is important for both families, so I see it as only fair if they know what's going on. He watches me with curious eyes as I do this, clearly having no idea what I've got planned, much to my relief.
This is supposed to be a surprise. If he already knew what was going to happen, it would take away the whole point of today. And I wouldn't want that.
Especially not something that means this much to our future.
"Right, would you be able to get changed into something you're okay with wearing for the whole day, baby? We're not gonna get back home until about five, so pick something comfortable, okay?" I say, trying to hide my nerves. He nods, not seeming to notice, jumping up and hurrying out of the room to follow the request, pressing a gentle kiss to my cheek as he goes.
I stand frozen, the gesture and the feeling of it familiar, the moment more meaningful than ever given the importance of today. For a second, I wonder if he knows what I have planned. Then I shake my head. I've done everything possible to keep as much of it a surprise as possible.
There's no way he could possibly know.
I snap myself out of my reverie, hurrying to get changed myself, sorting it all out before he has a chance to reappear. I'm lucky in that sense, as I know him well enough to know that he'll spend the next ten or twenty minutes wondering what to wear, and then another ten choosing an outfit, then five to actually dress up in said outfit. It gives me plenty of time to make sure everything is in place and prepared.
I send a few texts, get myself dressed, put his phone on charge and sneakily hide his wallet, so that he has no choice but to let me pay for anything we buy today. It's his day, so he shouldn't have to spend his money. This is me treating him, this is me showing how much I love him, this is my chance to give him at least some of the happiness he's given me whilst we've been together.
He needs to learn how important he is to me, and now that I have permission from everyone I should, my plan can go into action, and I can make this beautiful man my husband.
Taehyung emerges maybe forty minutes later, dressed and ready to go, a nervous smile on his face. He looks gorgeous as always, in pale blue jeans and a carefully chosen t-shirt with a band logo on it, a leather jacket over the top to keep him warm. My eyes widen as I realise he's wearing eyeliner, as subtle black lines are perfectly drawn just over and underneath his eyes.
