Invulnerable kook has soft spot in lover (ft self indulgent Yoonkook bc y'all didn't vanish when I suggested the idea so...mayhaps it's okay just this once?)

"Kook, be careful, you might get - holy shit."

His mother couldn't believe it the first time she saw it. He was playing a little too close to the campfire, that was all, and she didn't want him to get hurt. But when he ran directly through the fire without so much as a whimper, she realised that something wasn't entirely right about her young son.

And so she checked his body for injuries, as any mother of a five year old child would, only to find nothing. No burns, not a scratch or a scar, not even his hair was damaged. He'd somehow come out entirely unscathed.

The next time she noticed his ability was when he was seven years old. He was playing, again, on a tall climbing frame just a little too close to the edge with some other children. Testing the waters, perhaps. And then one of the other kids pushed past him, and he slipped off of the structure, landing on his right arm hard enough to break it.

But when she rushed over, followed by other mothers who were equally as worried, he sat up and tilted his head at her, completely unaware of the danger of the situation. And when she checked his arm, there was nothing. Not a bruise or a break, not a scratch on his golden skin. He watched with confusion as the other parents stared in shock, as his mother struggled to come to terms with the fact that her son appeared to be unbelievably lucky.

When he also survived after being under the water in the swimming pool, age eight, for more than ten minutes, his mother started to wonder if there was more than luck at play here. She took him to the hospital, had him checked on by every professional she could think of. But there was no damage. No sickness. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary despite the multiple instances where a young child would normally have incurred at least a scratch.

He never threw up, never had a cold, never suffered from chicken pox, never experienced any of the common childish diseases of the era. He seemed impervious to harm. Over time, the reality of the situation has become clearer.

For whatever reason, he's physically invulnerable.

He can cry, can feel any emotion under the sun. He's remarkably kind, remarkably powerful, loving in his own way. But he can't hide it, too busy walking through fires to stop himself from showing his heart on his sleeve. He's often seen with a wide smile on his face, talking through something with his friends, or playing some sort of game.

There's no moment where he's completely emotionless.

When Min Yoongi was born, he was silent, and nurses didn't know if he was able to breathe or not. As it turned out, he was. He just didn't have anything to say. And for a long time, he didn't. Wordless, expressionless, reserved in a way that others couldn't understand. His parents thought he was broken.

But they didn't give him up.

When he was five years old, someone asked him if he had the ability to speak, and he just nodded. Said nothing, but nodded. When asked why he hadn't bothered to say anything, the youngster just shrugged. Said something quietly, too quiet for the questioner to hear.

"There's never anything important to say, so why should I?"

He wasn't invulnerable to the hands of those who didn't like his withdrawn behaviour, but the wordless glare on his face the moment anyone got close discouraged negative attention. When he did speak, it was with perfect fluency, without hesitation, without any apparent fear or issue.

He just didn't want to say anything.

He's a little bit more verbal than in the past, these days, but even now it's a limited thing. He's not a fan of saying more than he needs to, just like when he was younger. And a lot of the time, he has someone to speak for him, to understand him without the need for his voice. Though sometimes he does say something just to put a smile on the face of the man he loves.
