Raven sat quickly in the corner of his bed as everyone else reveled in Daven's and Jagger's latest wins. They had won again during the second day of competition. Raven was really regretting not going.
"Well, it's getting late. We better head back." Daven gave Jesse a light peck on the lips. "I'll call you tomorrow."
The sub nodded. "Let me know when we can go and do something."
"I will." Daven nudged Jagger, and the two headed for the door.
"See you, Raven." Jagger waved at the sub.
"Bye." Raven lifted his hand slightly.
"Keep your nose in those books, baby brother." Daven gave him a cheesy grin.
Scowling at his twin, Raven snatched his pillow and hurled it at the door. The two dominant dodged it and quickly escaped into the hallway.
Liam picked it up and tossed it back to the long-haired boy. He stretched his arms overhead. "That was fun, but I think I'm going to go to bed early. See you tomorrow." He went into the bathroom.
Raven listened to Liam's footsteps and heard the other door close. He ran his hands along his hair as Jesse typed on his cell phone.
"So what's up?"
"Nothing." Raven shrugged.
Jesse put his phone on his desk. "Really? You're acting like something's wrong. You barely said anything to Daven or Jagger."
"There wasn't much to say." Raven's eyes fell into his lap. "It's pretty cool that they're both doing so well."
"If you wanted to go, I'm sure you could have just told Jagger you changed your mind."
Raven shook his head. "No. I got a lot done today. I'm going to the next meet." He gave his roommate a smile. "It's just kind of sad that next year I'll be missing all of this."
"I'll send you plenty of pictures, and just because you on the other side of the world, don't think you can't call. I'll be a little upset if you don't, to be honest."
With a laugh, Raven nodded. "Don't worry, I will."

"Mom! You're here." Raven ran over to the fence and hugged his mother. "Do you get to sit with me?"
Storm squeezed her son to her side. "Of course. I doubt your father and I are any threat to the subs."
"Where is Dad?" Raven scanned the crowd.
"He went to give a pep talk to Daven and Jagger. Track is kind of his thing. His only thing, come to think of it, but it's the one sport he actually likes," Storm laughed.
"Was he really good in high school?" Raven and Storm walked toward the bleachers.
"He was amazing. Like a flash of red that blew everyone away." She waved her stretched out hand in front of her. "It drove me nuts."
Raven smiled.
"He was so full of himself. Thought he was some hotshot. Sometimes I really just wanted him to lose."
"Mom," said Raven.
"It's the truth. Daven would be the same way." She peered down at her son. "But he's up against the teams that compete with Midfield. They're much higher quality than the ones that go up against the Northern Ridge school."
"I hope Daven wins today."
Storm put her arm around her son's shoulders. "Me too. He's worked really hard for this, so I think he's earned it."
