Raven slammed the front door behind him. "Jesse!" He wiped his eyes. "Jesse." Hurrying down the hall, he went to other sub's room.
It was empty.
"Jesse?" He let out a shaky breath. "Are you home?" The sub headed for the stairs to check his brother's room. Turning the corner, he nearly ran into Jagger. Raven quickly turned around to hide his face. "Hey, is Jesse here?"
"Daven took him out on a date. What happened?" Jagger touched the boy's shoulder.
"Nothing."
"Rav?"
"Nothing happened." He raced to his room and threw the door closed behind him.
Falling onto his bed, he cried into the mattress. They were over. The sub knew that Josh would never agree to change pack but there had always been a tiny amount of hope that Josh would choose him. Raven didn't even want to date anymore. Anyone that his dad found would try and find a way to make the sub change packs instead.
"Raven?" said Jagger.
"I'm fine."
"I know. I was going to watch a movie if you want to join."
"No, I'm going to take a shower."
"Okay," breathed Jagger. "If you change your mind, feel free to come and join me."
"'kay."
Raven listened to the footsteps sound down the hallway. He dragged himself off the bed and stumbled to the bathroom. A long hot bath was needed at the moment. After taking off his clothes, he climbed into the tub and turned on the water. Maybe he should call his mom. Raven would end up crying again and he was tired of it. His eyes were already burning and swollen.
He turned the water hotter with his foot. His skin started to turn a bright red. Only after his hands and feet were wrinkled did Raven decided it was time to get out. He still didn't feel good. Pulling the drain, he climbed out and dried off. With a towel around his waist, Raven went into his bedroom and spotted his phone. Josh was texting him. He looked through them but wasn't in the right mindset to respond. The sub didn't want to hear excuses about why they couldn't be together. Trevor would allow Josh to change packs. That was the only true obstacle keeping them apart.
Tossing the phone on his pillow, he went to get some clothes. Raven settled on sweats and a baggy t-shirt. He tied his hair on top of his head. His phone was still dinging. He left it there and went to the kitchen to get a cold water bottle to put on his eyes.
The smell of popcorn had filled the apartment. Raven walked into the kitchen and went to the fridge. He glanced at Jagger in the living room. The bowl of popcorn was just sitting on the coffee table.
Wandering over, Raven sunk into the couch next to him. "What are you watching?"
"It's not very good." Jagger passed the remote to Raven. "Go ahead and choose something else." He grabbed the bowl.
Raven chose a light-hearted comedy and munched on the popcorn. Jagger left for a few minutes and came back with some different candies and more popcorn. He dumped them all into the bowl.
The sub fell over onto the packmate's side. "Josh said no."
"I figured that was it."
With a sigh, Raven dug around from some chocolate pieces. "It was stupid of me to think he'd changed packs for me."
"Why?" said Jagger, watching the screen. "If the alpha hadn't laid down his ultimatum, you would have changed packs for him. He should be willing to do it for you."
