-15 years later-
"Why did you pull her tail?" Jesse eyed his son as he held his daughter. "Hmm?"
"It's her fault," the boy muttered. "We were racin' and she cheated."
"Eli," he said firmly. "What are the rules?"
"No biting." Eli rubbed his arms. "Don't pull tails." The boy refused to look at his dad and instead watched his two older brothers who were playing without him.
"Then why did you do it?"
Eli groaned. "She's too little. She gets in the way."
Jesse adjusted the upset werewolf in his arm. "You can all play together, or you can go upstairs and play in your room by yourself."
Bouncing up and down, Eli stared to groan. "No, Hunter and Violet are coming."
"Exactly, so if you don't want to spend the rest of the day in your room, you better say sorry right now and play with your sister until your cousins get here."
Frowning, Eli pouted. "I'm sorry."
"For what?" said Jesse.
Eli took a deep breath. "I'm sorry for pulling Lana's tail."
Jesse looked to the little girl in his arms. "Do you feel better now?"
Lana nodded while chewing on her fingers.
"Alright then, go play." He put her down and the two ran off toward their older brothers.
The sound of little paws sounded behind him.
"Daddy!"
Jesse grinned and knelt down to put of the three-year-old white pup. "Did you finally decided to come out and play."
Dezmin smiled and held out his arms. Jesse picked the boy up as his other twin son raced out to join his siblings. The sub examined the boy in his arms. "You have peanut butter in your fur. What did you get into, young man?"
Dez batted at his dad's hand as he tried to clean him up. "No, no, Kota did it."
"Dakota did it?" Jesse arched a brow. "And you just decided to steal a treat as well."
"No, no, grandpa did it but we can't tell."
Jesse laughed. "That is a story I can believe." He carried the boy over to the table where they had some of the food set out.
Daven was at the grill with Cyrus, chatting about pack business.
"Did you figure it out?" asked Liam as Jesse put his son on the ground.
"Another tail pulling incident. At least, Eli didn't bite her this time."
Dez grabbed his cousin's hand and pulled him toward the playhouse.
Jesse watched the two for a second. "How's Colby adjusting with the new pup?"
Liam fixed the blankets around the infant in his arms. "He has his moments but most of the time, he just wants to hold the baby."
"That's good. The older two have always been fine, but Eli hated it when we brought Lana home. He didn't even mind the twins. It's just his sister that he chooses to constantly pester."
"Maybe you should have put a few more years between everyone."
"I wanted more than two," muttered Jesse. "It took us longer than planned to get Grant and then Dustin happened way too fast. So we waited for about three years and then two years gap after that. I think they are perfectly spaced." He clasped his hands on the table.
