Midfield was so much quieter than back home. Liam closed his eyes and let out a sigh. By now, his alpha would have yelled at him for something or at least, he'd be cursing out other members. At least, Jesse's father didn't seem as angry as Liam's alpha. The sub rolled onto his side. Trevor was his new alpha. The paperwork was done and Liam was a Midfield werewolf now.
He traced the scar on his shoulder and glanced at his phone. Jesse kept wanting to visit. The pup needed to focus on school and stop worrying about Liam so much.
The door creaked up and River poked his head inside. "Hi. Um... I brought you something." He carried a tray with different treats into the room and set it on the bed. "I didn't know what you liked so I grabbed a bit of everything."
Liam sat up and looked at the options. "Thanks."
River smiled and played with his tail. "How have you been?"
Picking up a granola bar, Liam shrugged. "I'm getting used to being here and this—" He motioned to his shoulder. "I'm ready for the next full moon, to be honest." He took off the wrapper.
"Are you sensitive to the moon?"
Liam nodded. "Yeah, it's embarrassing that I get all weird during a full moon. Something about it helps me relax and forget about life for a moment." He took a bite.
"I think it's normal. We just as much like wolves as we are humans."
He looked the older sub up and down. It was rare to see River in human form.
"I might have something that can help."
"Like what?"
River's tail started to wag. "Come with me." He picked up the tray and motioned for Liam to follow.
Shaking his head, Liam went with him into the hallway.
The golden werewolf led the way through the mansion and stopped a door. "Can you open it for me?"
Liam turned the knob and pushed the door open. His eyes grew wide at the room that was filled with crystals. "Wow."
River went inside and put the tray on a table that was situated in the middle of bean bag chairs and large pillows. He stood and held out his arms. "This is the crystal room. It's where I like to go when I'm having a bad day. Brook and Cyrus also come hang out in here to sometimes."
Nodding, Liam walked into the room. "This is really cool."
"Feel free to come here any time." He pointed to the other door. "That goes into my room if you're curious. Troy had this room attached to our so I'd have some space of my own when we were first mated."
Liam flopped down in a bean bag and let out a deep breath. "This is nice."
River knelt down and moved the snacks off the tray. "I'm so happy to have you in the family." He stood and held the plate to his chest. "Cyrus really does love you. He'd come in here and tell me all about you." The sub laughed. "He'd get so depressed when he thought you were ignoring him. He laid across the floor and mope around all day."
Shifting in his seat, Liam laughed nervously. "Wow, I never would have guessed he liked me that much."
The golden werewolf shrugged. "He's very sweet and can be sensitive at times. Cyrus was my cuddler while Brook was independent since birth."
"I'm noticing."
River smiled. "Let me know if you want anything else." He motioned to the wall. "I'll be just next door."
"I will. Thank you." Liam grabbed one of the sodas.
"Um... as a friend of mine would say, we subs have to stick together."
