Not even waiting for the truck to stop, Daven opened the door when he spotted Jesse laying on the grass. He raced across the lawn with Jagger cursing at him from the driver's seat.
"Jesse!" He shoved Josh back. "Get away from him."
"Woah." Josh held up his hands. "I didn't do anything."
Daven knelt and clasped his fiance's face. "What were you thinking! How could you run off like this?"
The tears started coming and the sub fell into Daven's arms.
"I want to go home," cried Jesse. "I don't feel good."
Daven hugged the boy and growled at Josh. He could smell vomit. Someone had the nerve to touch his mate.
"I didn't do anything," said Josh. "We're second-cousins." He motioned to Jesse. "I was trying to help."
"He was," piped up Raven.
"You"—Daven pointed a finger at his brother—"I thought you'd be smart enough not to do something so stupid. Did Paris teach you nothing?"
His twin started to get teary-eyed as well.
"We're not heathens," stated Josh, putting his arm around Raven. "The fraternity is made up of Midfield werewolves. Your pack."
"Yes, my pack." He stood and helped Jesse to his feet. "And as a member of my pack, you should have called me."
Josh didn't back down and narrowed his eyes. "I thought for once you might be thinking rationally and decided to let them live a little. I apologize for being too optimistic. "
"Jesse is my mate! Mine!" stated the next alpha. "He doesn't need to go to these goddamn parties. He's taken."
The sub nearly lost his balance.
Daven caught the boy and smelled Jesse's clothes. "Are you drunk?"
Panicked filled Jesse's eyes. "Don't tell my dad. Please, don't tell."
"Damn it, Jesse." He tightened his grip on the boy. "Let's go." Daven snatched his brother's wrist and yanked him away from Josh. "Stay away from my brother. He's not allowed to date."
Jerking his arm free, Raven bowed his head and hurried toward the street.
Jagger was watching from the sidewalk. "Raven?"
The long-haired boy ran past his packmate and went to the truck.
Shaking his head, Daven looked his fiance over. "Where are the keys?"
Jesse wiped his face and took them out his pocket. "I don't feel good."
"I wonder why." He scanned the people standing around. A lot of them were highly ranked. "Let's go." Daven helped the sub to the road and unlocked the truck. "Get in," he said to Raven. He turned to Jagger as he opened the passenger door. "We'll meet you back at the apartment."
Jagger sighed. "Okay." He trudged off down the lane.
Daven practically lifted his fiance into the vehicle. He shut the door and spotted Raven still standing there.
"Get in."
Raven folded his arms.
"Raven, get in!"
"I don't have to listen to you," he said under his breath. "You're not a member of my pack."
"I'm your damn brother." He banged the side of the truck with his fist, leaving a dent. "This little act of rebellion ends now. Wait until dad finds out what you did."
