Liam turned the corner to witness Jesse and Daven's goodbye kiss that was close to turning into a mini makeout. He cleared his throat.
Daven pulled back and grinned at his fiance. "See you tomorrow." He nodded at Liam as he passed. "Goodnight, boys."
"Yeah..." Liam arched a brow. "Goodnight." He turned to Jesse. "You should just do it already so you can move in together and spare the rest of us this nightly show."
Jesse grinned. "My body is ready." He stretched out his arms.
Liam messed up his friend's hair as he entered the room. "Too bad, pup, but daddy said no."
The shorter boy scoffed at the comment. "My dad ruins everything."
"Must suck to have a responsible parent to keep you in line." Liam walked to the bathroom.
"Hmm... How was the basketball game?" Jesse shut the door and locked it.
"Crushed them. People started leaving during halftime." He squeezed his book bag strap. "Your cousins played. He did really good. I saw your uncles there too."
"What!" Jesse started to turn red as he marched to his bed.
Something was up with this little fireball and Liam decided to stick around to see what happened. Jesse roughly unlocked his phone and tapped the screen with more force than needed. He sat down on his bed and crossed his legs.
Liam smiled to himself. Someone must've not told Jesse about the game.
"You little shit," stated the sub. "You didn't think I'd find out."
"Hi, Jesse," said Cyrus.
Liam smiled to himself.
"Don't you dare just hi, Jesse, me. You promised, you fucking promised! I agreed to not go to your games until you felt more comfortable or whatever stupid fucking excuse you used. Come to find out, you're on varsity! How more damn comfortable do you need to be?"
"The game went great, thanks for asking."
"Cyrus! Do you know how hard it was for me to agree to not go to your games? You're so fucking selfish!"
"You're taken, Jess."
"You're my cousin, shithead. I would come to support you, not hit on your teammates." The sub breathed out through his nose. "I'm coming next time."
"No," whined Cyrus. "Come on, Jesse. I was put on varsity because of my height. Some of the major teams in our conference are killing us under the basket. I'm still making a ton of mistakes, and I don't need a mini-cheering section yelling at me. My dads and Brook are enough. Wait a bit longer."
Jesse shook his head. "I'm going. My dad's the alpha. I can do what I want." He hung up the phone.
Liam smiled to himself. "You sound like such a spoiled brat."
The sub snatched his pillow and hurled at the boy standing by the wall. "He lied to me. Cyrus told me he was on JV and most likely be sitting on the bench until he could get the plays down better. Turns out he's on varsity and played."
"Well, it was a blowout." Liam shrugged and tossed the pillow onto Raven's bed. "The coach may have been wanting to give all the players some time on the court."
Jesse pursed his lips. "Don't make excuses for my shithead of a cousin."
Liam laughed. "Oh, you have no worries there. Guess you'll be coming to next week's game?" He headed for his room.
