Cyrus peeked into his cousin's room. The sub was surrounded by plastic bins that had all Jesse's things for college.
"Hey," Cyrus entered the room. "When are you heading out?"
"Hi," said Jesse as he dropped an armload of clothes onto his bed. "Tomorrow. We have freshman orientation Monday. Daven wants to get the apartment put together before then." He ran his hand down his face. "I'm already dreading it. I convinced my dad to get a bigger place so there are four rooms, at least. I'll get to have one all to myself for once."
"But what about Raven?" teased Cyrus, "I bet he'd be upset to hear you say that."
Jesse rolled his eyes. "I'll have a queen size bed. If he gets lonely, he can wander across the hall."
"What about Daven?" Cyrus wiggled his eyebrows.
The sub frowned. "We're upstairs and the dominants are down," he muttered. "Daven wants to wait until he's older before we become mates."
"Oh." Cyrus sucked in his lips. He had been wondering why his cousin hadn't made the big announcement that they were officially mates yet. "I guess Daven just wants to make sure he's ready to take on that kind of responsibility."
"Yeah, the fucking bastard is going to make me wait forever," he said under his breath as he wandered into his closet.
Cyrus chuckled to himself. It was clear his cousin wasn't happy about the delay. Jesse's phone started to vibrate on the bed.
"Hey, someone's calling you."
"Answer it for me," replied Jesse. "Raven's been constantly calling. He wants to be sure that he brings everything he'll need. Like I know shit about living on my own. I've never even cooked for myself. Why the hell he thinks I know what I'm doing more than anyone else is beyond me."
The dominant smiled. The subs were going out into the real world and Cyrus had a feeling Daven and Jagger were going to have their hands full with those two pups. He picked up the phone and felt his chest tighten. Liam's name was written across the top. He pressed the green button.
"Hello?"
"Jesse?" said Liam with a tremor to his voice.
"This is Cyrus. Jesse's packing for college. Do you want me to get him?"
Liam let out a shaky breath. "Cyrus."
"Yeah."
"I don't want to be a werewolf anymore," he wept. "I don't know what to do. I can't leave. He'll never let me go."
Cyrus sat down. "Are you okay?"
"Can you tell Jesse"—the sub took a deep breath—"I want to come to Midfield now. If I have to be a werewolf, I don't want to be here." The boy broke down on the other end of the phone.
The dominant swallowed hard. "I'll come and get you."
Liam scoffed. "And do what? My alpha won't let me leave. Everything hurts so much. Why couldn't I have been born like you?"
"Liam, I'm coming, okay?"
"It's best if you don't."
Cyrus could hear another voice in the background.
"I have to go. Don't tell, Jesse. I'm fine now. I'm being dramatic. Forget that I called."
The line went dead.
"Liam?" said Cyrus. He checked the phone and debated whether to call the sub back. Cursing to himself, he tossed the phone to the side.
Jesse carried another load of clothes out of the closet. "Did I hear you say Liam?"
