Raven staggered up the steep path, starting to feel a little winded. This was turning into more of an adventure than Jagger let on. He used a boulder to help push himself up the mountainside.

"Do you need a break?" Jagger asked.

"I'm fine," breathed the white werewolf. "How much further is it?"

Jagger dropped the pack with the supplies on the ground and sat down. "I need a break. I think I packed too much."

Raven tried not to roll his eyes. He knew the real reason they were taking a break. The sub shuffled over and sat down by his soon-to-be mate. He played with his tail as he took deep breaths. It had to be all the running that was required to be apart of the hunting party. That was the reason Jagger was in better shape than the sub.

Grabbed Raven's hand, Jagger gave it a squeeze. "It's nice today."

"A little hot." The white werewolf fanned himself. This was supposed to be their big day and he wasn't feeling exactly attractive.

Jagger simply smiled and held the boy's hand as they listened to the birds chirping. With time, Raven regained his breaths and leaned into the dominant's side. Maybe once they got there, they could take a nap.

"Ready?"

The sub nodded and slowly stood. With a deep breath, he looked to Jagger to take the lead. The black werewolf took his fiance by the hand and they continued along the narrow path. The trail started to level out and Raven grew more excited at the idea that they might have finally arrived. He didn't see a cave, though. It was rather open. But if this was the special place that Jagger wanted them to have their first night together, then it was fine by him as long as the scar on his shoulder was permanent before they went home.

Jagger placed the pack by a tree and continued on to a large mound of rocks. A weird feeling was in the air. It had a serenity to it that was making Raven nervous. He didn't know whether or not to follow the dominant.

"Come here." Jagger held out his hand.

Raven went to him and stood at the werewolf's side. "What is this place?"

Letting out a deep breath, Jagger smiled at the rocks. "He was the only family I had."

The sub's eyes ran over the mound. It was a traditional burial marker. "This is where you took your grandpa?"

Jagger nodded and put his arm around the boy. He pulled Raven in close and nuzzled the sub's cheek. "I wanted him to know I found a new family. He doesn't have to worry about me being alone."

Raven buried his muzzle in the dominant's fur. "I'm sure he's very proud of you."

"I wish you could have known him better. Bloodhound and Northern Ridge had their problems with each other, but no matter what anyone says, he was such a kind man. He loved his pack and did his best to raise me."

"I believe it. If he was anything like you, then he was a good man."

Jagger rubbed the boy's shoulder. "He took me here as a pup. It was the place we'd go together and we talk about different things." He cleared his throat. "Anyways, I just wanted to show you."

"Thank you." Raven bumped the werewolf's chin with his nose.

Looking away, Jagger took in a deep breath and went to get his bag. "It's not too much further." He pointed to the peak above their heads. "It just up there."
