Raven's chest tightened and he reached out to Jagger as the dominant hurried off. The sub had heard what they said.

"That damn idiot." Darius knelt to check on the gray werewolf's condition.

"He called me an omega," said Raven.

Darius drew back his hand and stood. The werewolf started to groan and roll around on the ground.

"He did?"

Raven nodded. "He said some stuff about Jagger's father, too."

Darius shook his head and peered out of the cave. "So he deserved it." The alpha kicked the man's side. "Get your ass up and leave my territory. Only a man with a death wish would come to my pack and insult my family." He grabbed the werewolf's arm and yanked him to his feet. "Have fun telling your alpha why blew your chance at an alliance." Darius marched the man to the exit.

Ryder sighed. "I think I should go."

The sub's ears fell to the side. "Why? You didn't do anything wrong."

"I know." He took in a deep breath. "But seeing how miserable Jagger is reminded me of someone special I have back home."

"Someone special?"

Ryder patted the boy's head. "I'm willing to make sacrifices for my pack. You're a great guy, Raven, but my heart belongs to someone else. I'm pretty sure yours belong to someone else as well."

Letting out a shaky breath, Raven peered off the way Jagger had disappeared. "Do you think he'll want to be my mate?"

Ryder laughed. "I have never seen a werewolf of his rank so nervous to talk to a sub." He leaned down. "Every dominant has one weakness."

"Their mate," finished Raven.

"And that includes alphas."

"I'm sorry you wasted your time coming here."

"I'm not." Ryder shrugged. "It helped me realize how special my girl is back home and that I better be getting back to her."

"It was nice to meet you."

He smiled at the sub. "Jagger was right. You are special and any man would be lucky to have you. See you around." With a wave, Ryder headed for the exit.

An excitement mixed with fear filled the sub's body. He needed to find Jagger. Running down the tunnel, he stopped at the hot pools. The dominant was nowhere to be seen. He checked some other tunnels, down by the river, and then went to Jagger's room. The man had vanished. Chewing on a claw, Raven started to get worried. What if Jagger ran off?

He went back to the hot pools and thought for a moment. Where would Jagger go? His eyes traveled across the water. The sub hadn't looked on the other side. Climbing through the rocks, he tried not to get wet as he passed by the waterfall. Raven jumped across the last through stone and went to a cave where Jagger had gone to be alone before. He shuffled down the narrow passage.

A black werewolf was sitting by the small pond with his head in his hands.

"Jagger?"

The dominant flinched and wiped his face. "Hi... um, does your dad want me? Tell him that I'll be right there."

Raven walked over and sat down at his packmate's side. He rested his head on Jagger's shoulder. "Do you like me?"

Swallowing hard, Jagger wrung his hands together before nodding. "I'm sorry. I've been such an asshole to you over the last few months. I know you don't want to hear that."
