Brooklyn
Mikey had been far too quiet today. The rest of the boys had noticed, especially considering that he didn't contribute to conversation, and when it wasn't his turn to record he had his headphones in. Mikey knew that I knew aswell, but neither of us said anything.
He'd come to me when he wanted to talk. There was no point trying to force him... I knew from experience. We'd end up getting in a pointless fight that wouldn't solve anything.
So I waited for him to be the first to speak.
Instead of talking to him I just laid down on the sofa in the studio, and I was pleasantly surprised when Mikey laid down beside me, cuddling into my chest, headphones still in. I smiled softly, and traced my fingers lightly over his arms.
He'd finished recording his pieces now, the boys all wordlessly letting him go first, and then following it up with group vocals so Mikey could do what he needed to do without interruptions. He would often slip into his own head, and I could do nothing but watch until he wanted to talk.
Sometimes the waiting was the most difficult part of our relationship. Having to wait for the other to talk about what's bothering them. When Mikey gets like this, the waiting is even worse. Andy gave me a look when I nervously began to bite my nails, so I dropped my hand back onto my sleeping boyfriend. Well... I didn't know if he really was asleep.
"Brook... you're up mate." Rye said. I looked up and nodded, sighing softly when Mikey curled up tighter on me. So he was asleep then. More forcefully than I'd wanted to I slipped out from Beside Mikey, who mumbled under his breath. Without even being asked Rye took my spot beside him, and Mikey settled down again. Rye wrapped an arm around him and held him while he slept.
"Thanks." I smiled weakly, and he nodded in return. It was lucky that we all got on so well with eachother, and that I trusted every one of the boys with my life.
Studio could've gone better. I kept spacing out, which meant that I missed my timings, but I got there in the end, and was actually happy with what I'd produced. But my worry for Mikey still lingered at the front of my thoughts. But Mikey was always at the front of my thoughts, so that was nothing new.
The boys could tell I was bothered by it, and offered me sympathetic looks whenever I made eye contact. Rye was next, so we swapped positions again. I got comfortable, a smirk on my face when Mikey wrapped his arms securely around my middle, completely on top of me. My head fell onto his, and I kissed his forehead. I closed my eyes, breathing softly. Sometimes this was all we needed. Just to be silently held. No conversation needed. It was one of the many things that I loved about our relationship. We knew what the other needed, and when to stay quiet.
"Brooky?" A voice murmured, and I opened my eyes. Mikey's head was up, and his eyes open, looking right at me. I smiled.
"Hey baby." I whispered, knowing that Mikey wouldn't want the other boys to hear. I ran a hand through his hair and he sighed.
"I love you. So much."
My heart skipped a beat. That was the first time he'd ever said those words to me. I felt my eyes fill with tears.
"I love you too." I replied with a quiet laugh, and he pushed his lips forcefully against mine.
A minute later we were gasping for breath, staring into each others eyes.
"Are you ready to talk babe? Or do you need more time..." I asked as soon as I had regained my breath. Mikey laid his head back down on my chest.
"More time... I just needed to tell you that." He whispered, and I felt my cheeks heat up. I blinked away the tears.
