Mikey

The boys were always so sweet whenever I had a reaction to something, especially Brook, who always worried about everyone and everything, no matter what it was.

So of course he was there when I stumbled out of the bathroom this morning, panicking when he saw the state I was in.

Waking up this morning I could already tell that something was wrong. Firstly my chest felt uncomfortably tight, and I opened my eyes wide as I struggled for breath.
Not a great way to start the day.
I rolled over straight away, sitting up on my bed and hunching over the edge.

But the second I sat up I could feel my nose run... perfect...
With my eyes watering I blindly fumbled beside my bed for a tissue, wiping my nose a few times when I found one.
And then I coughed, and I could tell that today was going to be horrendous. I brought my hand up to cover my mouth in an attempt to muffle the sound, but only succeeding in amplifying it... somehow.
Don't even ask me how that happened.

Then I sneezed, and I groaned, slumping back down onto my bed, burrying myself in my covers.
I was absolutely exhausted. My whole body ached, my head rang, and I just felt weak in general.
Maybe a shower would help me perk up?

Grunting, I sat up, closing my eyes as my vision turned white for a few seconds. I didn't notice that my body has began to sway, and Andy had told me later on that it looked like I was drunk.

"Mikey?" I heard a deep voice speak. Opening my eyes, I saw Andy slowly waking up across from me through a watery screen. I rubbed my eyes, hissing when they seemed to burn more than usual. And my lips felt sore too.

"Yeah." I muttered, but I sounded far too congested to be understood. My voice came out as a strangled grunt, and I continued to wipe my eyes. I sniffed two times in quick succession

"Mate... stay home today yeah? You're in no fit state to do anything." Andy sat up, suddenly wide awake as he took in my appearance.

Did I really look that awful?
I nodded sluggishly, before pulling myself to my feet.

"Where are you going? You need sleep Mikey." Andy jumped up after me, and I heard the underlying panic to his voice... I sighed.

"Shower." I could only get out that one word out. My nose was completely blocked, so I was stuck with breathing through my mouth, which only irritated my lips... and then my chest felt uncomfortable again...

I wasn't going to win at all today was I?

As I slowly made my way from the room I heard Andy's voice through the thick fog that surrounded my head like a vice.

"Okay, but go back to sleep after... I'll get your medicine ready for you mate."

I didn't respond. Partly because I couldn't, and partly because I collapsed into the wall in a harsh coughing fit.

Before Andy could run after me I locked myself in the bathroom, clean pair of boxers in hand.
Surely a shower would wake me up, right? Surely it would give me more energy?

Taking a shower was probably the worst idea I had today. Every movement was effort, and my limbs only grew weaker and weaker.
I could barely keep my eyes open, but every time I closed them they became irritated, which made them water more...
