Bikey, Back Pain

Brooklyn

Agony rippled through me as I turned over, and what felt like a bullet shot me straight in the back. My eyes immediately watered, and I let out a whimper.

Why today? Why does my back have to play up on our day off?

I groaned then, but seconds later I inhaled sharply due to the stiffness that festered in the small of my back. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand, trying to only turn my head.
Jack was gone. Where the hell had he gone? And what even was the time?

I fumbled for my phone awkwardly, letting out another whimper. The stiffness in my back only seemed to get worse, and kept twinging every few seconds.

11:26 AM.

How had I managed to sleep in so late? Usually Jack was the one that never woke up... but where had he gone? Was it only Jack that wasn't in, or were all the boys out too? Because if that was the case, then I might actually burst into tears.

I decided to message our group chat, in hopes that I would get some answers. I lay on my back, gasping for breath as another twinge made itself known.

Where you guys at?

There was no response for a few, very long, minutes, until Andy replied.

Jack, Rye and I are having a meeting with Blair. You looked like you needed the sleep so we left you to it, and Mikey's editing. See you later bro!

Okay cheers. See you later! Was my response.

At least Mikey was home with me.
At least I wasn't alone.

I sighed then, knowing that I'd have to call Mikey in to help me. He would, bless his heart, because that was the kind of person he was, but I'd still feel bad because he was actually doing something productive to help the band. Me? I was lying in my bed with my back in pure agony whenever I ever so slightly moved.
What a great day off... Not!

"Mike!" I yelled loudly, knowing that he'd have his headphones on.

No response. This was going to be hopeless... I could already tell.

"Mikey!" My voice rose even higher, and I lay there, holding my breath, waiting for a response.

It even hurt to breathe now. Maybe lying on my back wasn't the best idea.

"Brook?" A voice called back, and I closed my eyes in relief.

"Yeah! Can you come here?" I asked, my face screwing up as a faint pain worked it's way across my back.

I heard a heavy sigh resonate from Mikey's room, and the guilt at disturbing my friend came back full force.

But then I heard Mikey scrambling around before quickly walking the short distance to my room.

"What's up?" He asked, stepping into the room slowly. I could see his confusion, and the mild annoyance. Hell, I could even hear it in his voice.

"I really didn't want to bother you Mikey... my back's hurting again." I softly said as I looked up, watching as the annoyance seeped away, being replaced by a concern that I found overwhelming... Almost.

"Don't apologise Brook... right, I'm going to get you're painkillers, and then I'll be right back okay?" Mikey reassured, patting me once on the shoulder before leaving the room.
