Andy

Despite Rye knowing every single little thing there was to know about me, there was that one thing that he didn't know.

I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror, pulled the skirt a bit farther down my leg; too much thigh was on display. I'd shaved my legs the night before, just because I felt like it.

I mean, why couldn't I shave my legs? There was no law on it, so I did it. Just like there was no law on me, a boy, wearing girl's clothes.

Only issue is, absolutely no-one knew. I thought my mum did, because you know, that mother's intuition, but she hadn't explicitly asked me about it.

I was almost positive that she must have found my collection of skirts at the bottom of my trouser drawer, but I couldn't be sure.

Anyway, I only wore them at home, when I was home alone. Never around anyone else. God forbid anyone find out; even my boyfriend, as much as it hurt to keep it from him.

But he was coming over later tonight to 'study', as we called it. And we did study, just not as much as everyone thought.

So I'd have to pack everything away before he got here.

I sighed again, and stared at my reflection in the mirror. It felt right to be wearing this skirt, no matter what anyone said. It felt natural to wear this piece of clothing.

Maybe I just had to tell people; if I did that, then maybe I wouldn't be so scared to wear it out of the house.

Maybe I wouldn't be so scared to be myself.

"Andy, can I borrow some jeans? I completely trashed mine while I was out earlier!"

Rye ran into my house, out of breath.

Saturday.

Rye's free-running meet up.

My music lessons.

Study night.

"Yeah, there's some in the bottom drawer," I said.

He kissed my head and I lead him into my room, pointed at the drawer, "take your pick."

"Thanks Babe, you're a life saver. Mum would have killed me if I'd come home later wearing these."

I looked at his jeans. Torn to pieces. Covered in mud, and other questionable stains.

I laughed, sat on my bed, and engrossed myself in the book that sat on my nightstand. I didn't know how long had passed as Rye chose a pair of jeans.

"Andy?" He asked softly.

"Yeah, Babe?" I turned my head, and my mouth fell open.

I gasped. In his hands was my favourite red skirt.

"What's this?" He asked.

I didn't know what to say. I hadn't planned on him finding out like that; if at all.

"Rye... I... it's not-"

"-Hey, hey it's fine," Rye pushed himself to his feet and dropped the skirt into the drawer.

I flinched a bit, looked away. I couldn't bring myself to look my boyfriend in the eye.

"Oh Andy. Come here," Rye said gently.
