Jack

I knew that my food had tasted funny.

We had decided to eat out tonight, just as a celebration for finishing yet another tour successfully. As we were the first people to order our food arrived relatively quickly. I tucked in immediately, my stomach aching from how hungry I was. The boys laughed, and then began to eat their meals.

After the first two bites I could tell that it didn't taste right. I slowed my chewing, titling my head to the side as I swallowed. Yeah, definitely didn't taste right.

"Why aren't you eating Jack?" Andy asked from beside me.

"It tastes a bit funny." I replied, picking up my fork and playing with the food on my plate.

"Oh, that might be because they used a new source with it tonight. Maybe that's it?" Andy suggested, and I found myself nodding in agreement. After all, what else could it be?

Deciding not to waste my food I continued eating, taking sips of my drink more often than usual to mask the taste. That had to be it. It was just the new source they were trying out.
I mentally made a note to tell them not to use that source ever again... It was absolutely disgusting.

We left the restaurant about two hours later, everyone having deciding to get pudding, except me. After my meal I'd seemed to have lost my appetite.

"You usually order desert Jack... are you sure you're okay?" Brook laughed from across the table.

"Yeah... yeah I'm just not that hungry anymore." I replied honestly, discreetly pressing my hand into my stomach as I felt it flip.

"That's a first." Mikey commented as they placed their order, and laughter erupted from out table.

It only seemed to get worse from there. I felt too hot, even though they had the air conditioning on full blast, and my hands felt all clammy and sweaty. I was constantly wiping them on my jeans, and a dull ache built up on the back of my head.
What the hell was going on with me?
I was fine twenty minutes ago!

I'd finished my drink, so I shakily went up to order myself three glasses of iced water to cool myself down with, somehow managing to not drop the tray on my way back over to our table.
I could feel the stares from the boys as I sat back down.

"Are you sure you're alright Jack?" Rye chuckled, but I could see the concern in his eyes, no matter how hard he tried to hide it.

I tried to play it off. "Yeah... I'm just too hot and want to cool down a bit." I said I raised the first glass to my lips. Downing half, I placed it back down and watched the boys finish their food.

My headache seemed to worsen, my stomach began to flip beneath my hand more violently than it had before.
I just wanted to sleep. Maybe I'd feel better in the morning?

I stayed quiet for the rest of meal, not saying a word because I didn't trust my voice. Instead, I folded my arms on the table and rested my head on then, closing my eyes.
I could still hear the boys conversation, but I felt them glancing at me every few seconds. I ignored it, hiding my face as a bad cramp hit my stomach. It just kept getting worse.

I must've drifted off somewhere, because I felt a hand shake my shoulder. I sat bolt upright, bleary eyed, to see it was just Andy at the table with me now.

"The rest of the boys are in the Uber Jack... you can sleep there." He quietly spoke. I stood up slowly, feeling the pressure in my head build slightly, and unconsciously I rubbed my temple harshly.
