Brooklyn
I walked in to see Andy on his laptop, with his headphones in.
"Morning." I spoke loudly, but he didn't seem to hear me. I thought nothing of it, seeing as we tended to have our headphones in quite loud to reduce the distractions while editing.
I clattered around in the kitchen for a bit, making myself breakfast, and having a drink, leaning against the counter as I did so.
I had no idea what we were doing today... probably film a few skits maybe, or go live on live.ly... I didn't really know. Mikey and Rye decided to go to the gym first thing, and as far as I was aware, Jack was still asleep.
All I knew that we had no studio, and we weren't filming any covers. So it was a quite day today. A welcome break. It was nice to not be rushing around and around.
Deciding to be helpful today, I cleaned up the mess I'd made, and washed up everything that was dirty before drying them and putting them away. There was something oddly calming and therapeutic about it, and I found that I didn't mind doing it as much.
I whistled meanwhile, completely forgetting that Andy was just a few feet away.
Strangely enough, Andy didn't even ask me to be quiet. Usually he was picky about that sort of stuff.
Looking over, I saw that Andy still hadn't moved a muscle. Frowning, I walked over slowly. I studied his laptop, my frown deepening when I saw that the screen was black. It had been playing a video before... Hadn't it?
Then I couldn't remember.
I studied Andy's face, noting in surprise that his face was blank, his eyes slightly glazed over.
"Fovvs?"
Nothing. Not even a muscle twitched.
I gently pulled off his headphones, and moved his laptop to the floor.
"Fovvs?"
Still nothing.
What was I supposed to do? I couldn't just leave him like this? What was even going on?
I took a few deep breaths.
Right... maybe I should lie him down...?
Okay, I thought to myself. I wormed my arms beneath him and gently laid him down, before kneeling beside his bed and stroking his hair.
I hoped none of the boys came in... I wouldn't be able to explain anything.
I stayed in that position for two more minutes before I saw his fingers twitch slightly.
"Andy?" I softly spoke, watching intently as he blinked sluggishly. He met my gaze, and I could see that he was disorientated.
"It's Brook... you're lying down on your bed." I supplied, hoping it would help. Andy blinked a few more times, and I held my breath, mouth running dry in anticipation.
What am I meant to do?
"Brooky?" A voice murmered, dragging me out of my thoughts. I zoned back in, and saw that Andy had finally snapped out of it. I just stared at him for a few seconds.
"Are you alright." I whispered, removing my hand from his hair.
"I think so." He replied softly, eyes filling with tears.
"Fovvs... what was that?" I asked shakily, raising my hands out slightly as he sat up on his bed. I dropped them to my sides when I realised that he was fine.
"I don't know... It's happened since I was a baby, usually I can hide it, and it doesn't happen as often now." He said, and I nodded, taking this information in. I sighed softly when I watched him wipe the tears from his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't really know. I was going to, but... I guess it just never came up." Andy shrugged again.
"How did you deal with this by yourself all these years?" I asked, a bit out of curiosity, and a bit out of awe.
"Somehow... I'm not sure. There were a few close calls. Rye started having a conversation with me just as I snapped out of... whatever it is... and, well, it was close."
We stayed silent for a bit, and so I stood up to get him a glass of water.
He nodded in his thanks.
"What do you want to do now?" I asked timidly as I sat beside him, and I heard him sigh.
"I want to tell them... but, I can't. Not yet." He uneasily spoke, and I was quick to reply.
"That's fine. And before you say anything, no, I won't tell them."
He turned to face me. "Thanks Brooky." He smiled, and rested his head on my shoulder. I wrapped an arm around him and held him close. It was moments like this, that I realised how close we all were, and how lucky I was to have them all in my life.
"You're welcome." I murmered, and at that moment Mikey walked in the front door, fresh out from the gym with Rye. I stood up abruptly and walked into the kitchen, making Andy laugh out loud. I grinned back, placing Andy's glass of water beside the sink.
"What are you guys laughing at?" Rye shouted as he chuckled his gear into his room, and then following Mikey in the Mindy room.
"Nothing, I'm just being an idiot." I answered, hearing all the boys laugh.
"Oh, so nothing new then." Mikey commented, and I mocked glared at him, making Andy laugh again.
I then couldn't contain myself, and burst into fits of laughter.
I wouldn't tell the boys until Andy was ready to... He can trust me on that. As I looked over to him, he gave me a small smile. I stuck my tongue out before turning to wash up his glass.
Andy had nothing to worry about.
