Andy shook his head and shut himself in his room the second he heard what Rye was going to do. I heard his door shut; not soft, but not harsh either.

Believe me, I wanted to as well, but I had to make sure that he didn't hurt himself.

Jack was already down in the garden with the trampoline, waiting for Rye to jump.

Brooklyn had his head hung out the window, spoke loudly to Rye, who was stood precariously on the edge of the roof outside Brook's bedroom window.

And me? I was stood far back into the wall, phone up to record what Rye was about to do, despite my wishes for Rye to think for a change.

"Rye... this is stupid. You're gonna get hurt," I said again, held my breath when Rye looked over the edge of the roof.

Rye turned back with a smile. "It'll be fine."

"Yeah, he'll be fine Mikey," Brooklyn added from the window.

"What if you miss Ryan? What happens then?" I asked quietly, stared at the back of Rye's head.

He gave me an exasperated look. "I can do it. I won't miss."

I sighed, but bit my tongue.

My friend was reckless, and this was the worst thing he had ever attempted.

"Rye? Is the trampoline in the right spot?" Jack yelled from below.

I held my breath as Rye leaned back over the edge.

"Yeah, looks good!" Rye called back.

He took a few steps back, and I saw him take deep breaths to gear himself up.

Brooklyn and Jack chanted to him, but I stayed silent. I had a bad feeling.

"Please don't."

Either Rye heard me and ignored me, or my words didn't even reach his ears.

But he hesitated.

And then he jumped.

I ran forwards, still filming (as Rye asked me to), and I leant over the edge in time to see Rye miss by literally an inch. His body hit into the metal ring on the outside of the trampoline with a cry.

I heard something snap, and he fell off the side, slammed his head on the floor.

He didn't move.

"Rye!" I yelled, eyes wide.

I dropped my phone onto the roof and, without thinking, I ran and jumped, landed on the trampoline perfectly.

Within seconds I climbed off of the trampoline and slid to the floor beside him, gently ran my hands over him.

"Rye? Rye, can you hear me?" I asked loud and clear.

Nothing. Not even a twitch.

"What's happened?" Brooklyn yelled, and I heard him climb onto the roof, "Oh shit!"

"Bloody hell... someone call an ambulance already!" I shouted.

"On it!"

Brooklyn scampered away back into his room, and I heard his window shut loudly.

I looked to where Jack had been stood before.

He was still there, but frozen in shock. Pale face, stared hard, eyes wide.
