Brooklyn
Rye fell asleep on me pretty quick once he'd exhausted himself by crying. Bless him. He'd cried himself to sleep.
I kissed his forehead softly, and sighed, the hurt he had dealt out to me vanishing within seconds.
His breaths were even, his hands twisted firmly in my shirt. It was like he didn't want to let me go.
"What have you done to yourself Rye?" I whispered sadly.
He didn't answer. I didn't expect him to. He breathed out a snore, and I laughed quietly.
I didn't really know what to do with him, but I knew that he'd be much comfier on a bed, that was for sure... I didn't know if I could carry him.
But screw it, I had thought after a few seconds of debate.
I picked up him slowly, careful not to wake him. He stirred and mumbled something, but I shushed him right back to sleep; let me tell you, it did not take much convincing. Rye was limp in my arms, completely devoid of stress, of the anger that had consumed him earlier, and I wondered how in the hell he had shouldered it all by himself before.
The stairs proved a challenge, but I managed to manoeuvre him around the corners and down the narrow hallways, and the while flicking the lights off as I went.
As much as I wanted to go back to bed, I was not going to waste any electricity.
Once in my room (I was not going to try to climb Rye's bed), I layed him down gently, making sure that it was actually the bed I was laying him on, and not the floor. It was dark, but I couldn't be bothered to turn the light on.
I climbed in next to him, and smiled when he latched onto me even more. I reached for my phone before I passed out, and fired off a text to the boys:
I've got him.
I didn't know if I did, but he was next to me, asleep, and that was all that mattered.
I fell asleep with Rye beside me, my hand rubbing circles into his shoulder.

When I woke up the next morning Rye was still passed out, completely hidden in my side. But I wasn't surprised, seeing as he'd spent his days sleeping; he'd been avoiding us, I knew, and that had hurt us all, as had his words.
But at the same time we'd known that something was wrong, only we couldn't place it. He wouldn't talk to us, and there was nothing we could do to help.
He looked so peaceful, each breath gently ruffling his hair that hung in front of his eyes. The stress lines from the night before were still visible, but not as prominent as they had been. His body was no longer tense.
I ran my fingers over his side softly.
There was a knock on my door, and I turned my head to see Andy peeking in, looking kind of frantic, but relieved at the same time.
"Hey." I called softly, and Andy took that as an invitation to walk in.
He sat himself gingerly on the end of my bed, staring at Rye.
There was a deep fondness in his eyes, a small smile, but I could tell he was still worried. Heck, I knew I was.
That was because we knew Rye was still there, in the house, but we had only seen traces of him; the washing up done, but not put away; places tidied up when that day they had been a mess; at the studio, when he had left a note of what he had got through, and any ideas he had had whilst there by himself.
It was like Rye was a ghost, and it had scared us all.
This was the first time Andy was seeing Rye in the flesh for weeks.
"How is he?" Andy asked softly.
"I really don't know Fovvs." I answered, not taking my eyes off Rye.
"How did this," he gestured to Rye asleep on my bed, "happen then?"
"I heard him go downstairs, so I followed him. He was quite blunt, to be perfectly honest. You know how he was before he started avoiding us..." I said pointedly, and Andy nodded.
"But I went to stop him, and he flinched away from me. He started crying, like, full on crying, and he cried himself to sleep." I finished with a whisper when I heard Rye stir beside me.
"Shush... it's alright. Go back to sleep." I ran my hand through his hair.
He calmed down right away, and pulled me as close to him as he could.
"That's cute." Andy smiled, looking at Rye.
"You know, I think he was just missing the human touch a bit." I said, and Andy nodded.
"I think you may be right there Brook... well, he seems calm enough now. And I seriously doubt he's going to go on a rampage." Andy joked.
I laughed lightly.
Andy pressed a brotherly kiss to Rye's forehead, left his hand on his shoulder for a few seconds.
"I'll tell the other's to leave him in peace, or until he wants to come downstairs."
"Thanks Fovvs." I said.
Andy left, and Rye's breathing lulled me back into an in between state.
"Thanks Brooky." Rye mumbled under his breath.
I opened one eye, but Rye had already fallen back asleep.
I smiled, shut my eyes.
"No problem."
