It was winter time when Beca, Chloe, and Fat Amy moved into their new apartment in Brooklyn, New York. The three of them were freezing and dying to get inside. It had been a long day of unpacking everything and moving awkward furniture into their apartment, their very small and almost claustrophobic apartment. The place would have only been able to fit one person comfortably and even then it was pushing it. It was just one big room with a kitchen, bathroom, and living space with the walls painted with a disgusting teal colour so it was something to be desired. It was going to be tight but the women knew that when they found the place online. They needed somewhere cheap while Beca and Chloe pursued their dreams of becoming a music producer and a vet while Fat Amy just pottered around. The Australian said that she'd help pay the bills and all that but Beca and Chloe knew she'd just do what she wanted. They had known the blonde for years and she hardly did anything to contribute to living in the Bellas house.
"I call the double bed!" Fat Amy announced once they got everything set up.
"What?" Beca frowned. "Amy, that's not fair."
"Come on. Do you really expect me to sleep on that crappy little fold-out bed? Let's face it, my fat ass will break it within the first week! You and Chloe can share and it'll still hold its shape. I think that it's only right that I have the double bed."
Beca and Chloe looked at each other then looked at the little fold-out bed.
"It's okay, Becs," Chloe said in an upbeat tone. "We'll manage."
Beca sighed but didn't argue. The brunette was always set on having her own bed but after being single for a few months and finally coming to terms with her feelings and sexuality, Beca was both excited and nervous to share a bed with her best friend and her secret crush. It wasn't that much of a shock to the young woman when she realised that she had feelings for Chloe. When the idea first came into her head she thought it was ridiculous but after looking back at how she would always stare longingly at Chloe, laugh at her jokes, melt under her gaze, and feel warm and fuzzy inside whenever they touched, the idea seemed to be very reasonable and real.
It wasn't hard to accept that Beca had feelings for Chloe but what was hard was the fact that the idea of them being together was impossible. Chloe had mentioned a few years ago that she regretted not doing enough experimenting in college and she did compliment her fellow Bellas in a way that came across rather flirty but she didn't have an actual interest in women sexually. Beca tried to find something that could portray Chloe as someone attracted to the same sex but whenever she thought back, Chloe had always been with men. That's what hurt Beca the most - knowing she was in love with someone who wasn't in love with her and who would never love her the way she wanted them to.
Chloe always told Beca that she loved her but it was purely platonic. Chloe was the only person Beca said it back properly. Whenever her fellow Bellas used to say it, Beca would respond with, "you, too," or something similar. But with Chloe, she responded with, "love you, too," or "I love you, too". It took the brunette a bit to come out of her shell and say those words she never thought she'd say to anyone but she knew how much it meant to Chloe and she knew that Chloe wouldn't make fun of her or make her feel bad about saying it, which made it easier for Beca.
"Grab the end here, Becs," Chloe told the brunette, holding out a corner of a red fitted bed sheet.
"Oh no, we're not going to go crazy with colours are we?" Beca whined. "It's bad enough that we have this greeny-blue colour for the walls!"
"Oh, don't be such a baby and help me make the bed. We'll alternate the bedsheets anyway so it's no big deal."
Beca wanted to protest further but she was too tired to care so she just huffed and helped Chloe make the bed, which ended up with five different colourful blankets with a turquoise quilt cover and a yellow blanket over the top.
