"What?" Beca probes as she walks onto the set, pretending as if she didn't just get ready within five minutes.
"Nothing. I didn't say anything," Gail, Beca's agent, defends.
Beca nods and races to her dressing room, feeling like everybody has their eyes on her, or maybe she's just being paranoid but it isn't like Beca to be late for her job. Beca is one of the best, most popular, and most influential actresses of the Twenty-first Century. Beca loves acting. She thrives in it. Relishes in it. Acting is her solace. The world loves her and it gives Beca a chance to be a good role model for women. However, Beca doesn't feel like a good role model at all today. In fact, she feels the complete opposite.
Beca gets into her dressing room, her chest pounding as if she has just raced against Usain Bolt and won. Beca puts her bag on her vanity table and dreads to look up at herself but she does reluctantly. She pulls off her sunglasses and sees bags under her eyes and the face of someone who has just woken up or rather, someone who has been caught doing something they shouldn't have. Beca looks into her eyes and shakes away the memories of last night. Anyone would have thought that Beca has just murdered someone by the way she's acting. The brunette removes her jacket followed by her scarf and gets chills down her spine when she sees purple marks along her neck, shoulder, and collarbone. Beca curses mentally, wanting to shout aloud but can't since the cast and crew are right outside her dressing room door and she doesn't want to draw any more attention to herself than she already has.
Going into her makeup bag, Beca withdraws some foundation that she promptly puts over her marks. The marks are dark and big but Beca doesn't let that stop her from lathering her skin in foundation that she will NOT let the makeup crew touch. It's going to be difficult but Beca can be quite forceful when she has to be. She doesn't like getting firm and perhaps a little rude and curt with the people she works with but sometimes she has to be or else she'll be a pushover and everyone knows that you don't get anywhere in life letting people boss you around and more so, letting them get away with it.
Beca finishes coving up her marks and she examines herself carefully in the mirror, making sure that not a spec of purple can be seen. Beca sighs gratefully. She's grateful that the foundation did its job and she's grateful that nobody has pestered her yet about why she is one hour and twenty minutes late for work because again, it's not like Beca to be late for the thing she loves doing the most, well, second most now. Today will be the biggest performance of her life. Not only does Beca have to act for a mini-series but she also has to act like she didn't just have mind-blowing sex with her co-star Chloe Beale the night before. Beca pretends that she didn't have the best sex of her life. She pretends that she didn't love the way Chloe topped her. She pretends that she doesn't want to do it again and again and most of all, she pretends that she doesn't secretly love Chloe.
Beca has been in love with Chloe for about two years now and Beca knows it's wrong not because Chloe is a woman; Beca doesn't care about that. No, it's because Chloe is married to another man. A military man for that matter. One could say that they do make a good couple but Beca knows the truth. Beca knows Chloe's not happy. Chloe looks awkward every time Chicago touches her. She looks awkward when he kisses her and hugs her, which actually isn't that much. Beca can see that Chloe is uncomfortable and she can see that she's not happy and it breaks Beca's heart.
Beca and Chloe started filming a mini-series about a month ago in Utah and Beca and Chloe's agents set the women up in a nice hotel but to save on cost, they put them in the same room with only one bed. Beca is still skeptical about why they did that and at first, she didn't mind but now, she's regretting ever having agreed to make this mini-series with Chloe in the first place. Chloe is married and Beca was the other woman Chloe cheated with.
