Beca Mitchell strode through the front door of her New York apartment that she shared with her best friend Fat Amy and her long-term girlfriend Chloe Beale. The apartment was minuscule but it did its job... just. There were two beds in the apartment, one was a double and the other was a fold-out and Fat Amy called the double bed before Beca and Chloe had a chance. Beca argued that it was only right for the couple to have the proper bed but Fat Amy said because of the brunette's size and Chloe's size, that it would be better if they shared the fold-out. Beca went to argue further but Chloe quickly diffused the situation as she always did and the couple ended up sharing the fold-out bed together.

It wasn't the luxurious lifestyle Beca had in mind when she moved to New York and it wasn't something that she wanted for Chloe either. She wanted to give Chloe the best but Beca couldn't exactly do that when she came straight out of Barden University with no proper career that had a nice flow of income. Three years later, Beca was still living in her apartment with her girlfriend and best friend, however, today was different.

"I did it! I finally quit my job!" Beca announced. "I'm free! I'm free and I'm never going to have to go back to that place again! It's the best day of my life. I can't be a music producer without integrity."

Fat Amy pushed past the clothing rail, which was used as a barrier between the two beds and pulled out her headphones. "What's up?"

Beca frowned and noticed that the Australian hadn't been listening to her at all but instead was listening to music.

"What?"

"Wait... Something's wrong... Your face is more pinched than normal."

"I finally did it!"

Fat Amy's eyes went wide. "You proposed to Chloe?"

"What? No!"

"What do you mean no? You two have been dating forever and you haven't popped the question yet?"

"Look, I love Chloe but we can't afford to get married right now. I can't even afford to get her a nice ring! Anyway, that's not what this is about."

"Then what's up?"

"I quit my job."

The blonde gasped. "You got fired?"

"No!" Beca protested once the woman tackled Beca in a hug, making them fall onto the fold-out bed. "I didn't get fired - I quit. You're kinda making it worse."

"Let this negative energy be released!" Fat Amy demanded. "Seriously though, open your legs, it'll come out a lot quicker."

"Why do you do this stuff? Why are you like this?" Beca grumbled.

"Listen, you're gonna get over this fast. You know why? Because you have an amazing best friend."

"Is that you?"

"Yeah, and also," Fat Amy sat up with Beca. "We have to pay the rent. You know... every month we have to do it."

"Right..."

"Yeah."

"You could get a job, you know?"

Fat Amy's eyes went wide. "Beca, you're in shock. You need to eat something." The woman dragged Beca over to the kitchen and sat her down. "Don't eat these though. They're mine," Fat Amy snatched away some cookies before Beca could even look at them.

"Hey, guys!" Chloe greeted once she walked through the door.

"Hey! Chloe!" Fat Amy beamed.

"Why aren't you guys ready?" The redhead frowned.
