It had been two years since the accident. Two years since Beca's wife Claire had died in a car accident. Beca never forgot the day when she received the news. She was watching TV with their daughter, Sophie when Claire was hit by a car who didn't see her crossing the road. Beca and Sophie were devastated and things around the house weren't the same since. It got hard for Beca from time to time, especially since Sophie looked so much like her mother with her bright blue eyes and red hair. Beca always had a thing for redheads so when she met Claire, she was smitten and she was so happy that Sophie inherited Claire's eyes and hair instead of Beca's. Beca had a hard and stern look about her whereas Claire had a soft one and now, Sophie did, too.

It was Sophie's first day back at preschool after the holidays but the little girl didn't want to go. She wanted to be with her mama. Ever since Claire passed, Sophie had been extra clingy with her mother, which made separating the girl a nightmare.

"I know you don't want to go but you need to, honey," Beca told the girl who was clinging onto her leg.

"I don't want to go!" She wailed.

"I know but you have to. It's important."

"No!" Sophie stuck to Beca's leg and the little girl was surprisingly strong.

"Do you need a hand?"

Beca looked up in front of her and saw a redheaded woman with bright blue eyes. She looked very similar to her late wife Claire.

"Ah... Y, yeah. Yes, please," Beca nodded.

"I've got this." The woman kneeled down to the girl. "Sweetheart, it's okay."

"I don't want to leave my mama."

"I know you don't but it'll be fun! I promise you. We're going to start the day with painting."

"You LOVE painting, Soph!" Beca said.

"Me, too!" The woman beamed. "Why don't we paint together?"

Sophie turned her head away from her mama's legs and looked at the woman and when Sophie saw her, her eyes nearly popped out of her head.

"Mommy?"

The woman looked at the girl confused but then smiled at her.

"No, darling, I'm not your mommy."

"But... You... You look like her..."

"Oh..." Chloe giggled. "Well, how about we go and paint? It'll be fun."

"Okay..." Sophie wiped her eyes and released Beca's legs.

"That's my good girl." Beca leaned down and hugged her daughter. "I love you, champ. Have a good day."

"I will, mama. I love you, too." Sophie pecked Beca's cheek then turned to the woman.

"Why don't you and get set up over there with the other kids and I'll be right over?"

"Okay." Sophie walked in the direction the woman was pointing.

"Chloe, you didn't tell me you were going to teach here!" Beca whisper yelled to the redheaded woman.

"I didn't think I was either but I got a call and I got the job so I took it. I was going to tell you on the weekend but I was busy. You're not mad are you?"

"No, of course not. I just didn't think this was how you'd meet Soph that's all."

"You still haven't told her about us?"
