Chloe threw herself onto her bed and cried when she got in her dorm. The redhead had felt like her heart had been shattered into a million pieces. She had never felt this level of pain before and it was unbearable. Chloe had never cried so hard over anyone before and she hoped that she never would but here she was - heartbroken and distraught. Chloe still couldn't understand why Beca would break up with her so easily. Chloe was convinced that Beca loved her job more than Chloe. The couple never spoke about the topic of love but Chloe was sure in love with Beca. They hadn't been officially together long but Chloe had a crush on Beca for a long time and the more she got to know the brunette, the harder she fell for her and Chloe was a BIG feeler so it didn't take much for her to fall for someone.
What made things even worse was that Beca agreed to see Chloe. She basically led the woman on and now had left her heartbroken. All that was rushing through Chloe's mind was her time with Beca and now their break up. Chloe wished that the pain would go but she knew it wouldn't. She knew she had to just deal with it but she wasn't sure how she was going to do that. Beca was her teacher and it wasn't like Chloe could avoid her. Class attendance was compulsory and each student had to contribute and Chloe needed good grades. However, good grades weren't Chloe's priority at that moment. All the woman could do was cry and let the pain of her break up consume her. She hated the feeling more than anything and she began to resent Beca for making her feel that way. She loved Beca but she also hated her. Chloe had given a very vulnerable part of herself to Beca and the brunette just dropped it on the ground and watched it shatter.
"Guess what, Chlo?" Aubrey said when she entered the dorm. "The grocery store had a sale on your-" the blonde stopped once she saw the state her best friend was in. "Chlo? What's happened?"
"B, Beca..." She just managed to say.
"Beca? What about her? Has she hurt you?"
"She... she broke up with me... she... she said that... she needs to focus on her work..." Chloe burst out into a babbling mess again and Aubrey was quick to drop the grocery bag on her bed and rush over to Chloe to hug her.
"Shh, honey, shh..." Aubrey soothed, gently rocking Chloe.
"You were right, Bree... I should... I should have stayed away from her..."
Aubrey was usually one to say 'I told you so' but she couldn't care less right now. Her best friend was heartbroken and even though Aubrey was right, all she cared about was Chloe and trying to stop her crying. Aubrey was quite a stern woman who didn't take any nonsense and was straight to the point but she hated seeing people upset. Whenever someone was upset, Aubrey would be a mother figure to them, which was exactly what Chloe needed.
"Why does it hurt so much?" Chloe sobbed.
"Because you really liked her, hon. Real things hurt. When me and Stacie fight, it hurts because I love her and I hate fighting with her. I know I didn't support you and Beca but I know how much you liked her so I understand that you're hurting. What she did was a shitty thing to do and she's going to pay."
"Don't hurt her."
"She hurt you so she gets hurt. I'm sorry, Chlo but that's the best friend rule. You're too precious to get hurt."
Chloe loved it when Aubrey got protective over her. It made her feel like she was important and worth something and even though she didn't want Beca to get hurt, she did want to see her face Aubrey's wrath because there was no wrath like Aubrey's wrath.
"Good thing I went to the grocery store on the way home, isn't it?" Aubrey said.
"Why?"
"Because they had a special going for your favourite ice cream so I got you some as well as some chocolate. But I have a feeling that I might need to make another trip..."
