Beca Mitchell's love for Chloe Beale was beyond anything the world had ever seen. It was coming up to Beca and Chloe's four-year anniversary and Beca wanted to do something special for the redhead. Four years was a long time but what made it even more special was that this was their last year at Barden University. Beca knew how important Barden was to Chloe and how much she loved it so Beca wanted to put in an extra effort for their anniversary. However, being a college student and working as an unpaid intern was hard for the brunette, meaning that finances were pretty tight. Beca worked part-time at one of the café's on campus but it didn't pay very much and Beca only worked on weekends so she didn't get that much income but it kept her fed and allowed her to buy some nice things for herself and for Chloe.
However, Beca was quite low on money this time since she just bought a new soundboard for herself so the brunette had to find a quick way to get money for her and Chloe's anniversary. Beca was almost out of ideas until she walked past a flyer board where a science center was looking for human test subjects to help advance science. Beca didn't read much of the description. All Beca saw was the five-hundred-dollar reward for being a human guinea pig and that was enough. Beca took the flyer and called the science center and went there first thing the next day. Beca wasn't sure what she was being tested on her but all she cared about was the money and how much of an amazing anniversary she could give Chloe.
"Alright, Miss Mitchell, are you ready?" The doctor checked.
"Ah, I guess so. What are you going to inject into me?"
"Well, after doing a lot of research and tests, we believe that in this here syringe is the stereotypical male gene."
"Stereotypical male gene? What even is that?"
"In lamens terms, it's what makes men the way that they are. How they act, how they respond to things, how they think, how they look at people and objects, how they process information, and so on."
"Oh, great. If this works, will you be able to remove it so they're not such dickheads?"
The doctor chuckled. "That would be ideal and I'll keep that in mind but first, let's see if all of our hard work has paid off. Are you ready?"
"Sure."
"Excellent. Now, you're going to feel a little pinch..." The doctor put the needle into Beca's arm and injected her with the serum.
It stung and the serum was thick and dense in her veins but thankfully, it didn't last long.
"There! How was that?" The doctor asked as she removed the needle and put it in the bin.
"Yeah, that was fine. What do I expect now?"
"Just keep an eye out for any changes in your body. This drug will only affect what's in your mind so you won't physically change if any changes occur at all. It's all explained in this pamphlet here."
Beca took the pamphlet and gave it a brief read and it seemed simple enough.
"Any issues, you come back to me and we'll monitor you, okay?" The doctor said.
"Okay. I will."
"Very good. I'll get the receptionist to write you out your check and then you can be on your way!"
"Excellent. Thanks, doc!" Beca smiled, slipping off the bed and putting on her leather jacket.
"No, thank you, Miss Mitchell! Have a wonderful day now!"
Beca didn't hesitate to collect her cheque from the receptionist and the biggest smile graced Beca's face once she read the sum. Chloe was going to have the best anniversary yet.
