Beca wasn't a cat person. She wasn't an animal person in general but she especially wasn't a cat person. Beca hated cats. Ever time she saw one she grimaced and whenever one hissed at her, she hissed back. Beca never liked cats and had no intention of getting one. However, Beca came face to face with a cat when she entered her new girlfriend's apartment. Beca was mortified. There, sat on a little bed was a black and white cat. It had a nice coat and nice bright blue eyes like its owner but that was it. That didn't change the fact that Beca hated cats but Beca didn't have the heart to tell Chloe that since she was absolutely smitten with the woman. Beca and Chloe had been on several dates and Chloe had invited Beca back to her place for a coffee and late night snacks. Beca was happy to accept but she was regretting it once she saw the cat.
Chloe made Beca a coffee and brought over some snacks to the brunette who was situated on the couch.
"So... You've got a cat, huh?" Beca said.
"Yep! Come here, girl!" Chloe snapped her fingers, prompting the cat to rush over to her.
No! Don't call her over! Beca internally yelled.
The cat jumped onto Chloe's lap, allowing the redhead to pat her. The cat then looked at Beca and walked over to her and smelt her briefly before rubbing up against the woman and purring. Beca tried ever so hard not to wince. Another thing she hated about cats was their fur and this cat was leaving her fur all over Beca's new jacket.
"She likes you!" Chloe beamed.
"This is her liking me?"
"Totes! She does that with people she likes."
"What does she do with people she doesn't like?"
"She doesn't go near them and growls when they go to touch her."
"I'll consider myself lucky then."
Beca wanted to push the cat away from her but she didn't want to upset Chloe so she just let the cat continue what she was doing.
"Do you have any animals?" Chloe asked.
"Ah, no."
"You should totally get one."
"My place doesn't allow for pets so..."
"Oh, that's a shame."
"Are you allowed pets here?"
"No, but the landlord and I are good friends so he turns a blind eye. Besides, she's really well trained. She's a rescue cat."
"A rescue?"
"Yeah. She used to be a stray but they trained her really well so I didn't have to do much. She's literally no trouble at all."
"Well, that's good."
Beca and Chloe kept talking for a few hours, laughing and exchanging stories. They got to know each other a lot more and they felt themselves fall harder and harder for one another. As soon as they met a few weeks ago, they knew there was something special between them. Things had only gotten better between the two women and they couldn't get enough of each other.
"I had a really nice time today, Becs," Chloe said as the night was getting late.
"Yeah, me, too," Beca smiled. "It's late. I should probably head back."
"Did you want to stay the night?"
"Stay the night?"
"Yeah. It's really late and I don't want you driving back to yours at this hour. There are a lot of idiots on the road at this time of night."
