Chapter XL - Bechloe: Broadway Beca

Chloe's POV

Don't get me wrong, I love my girlfriend to bits - I really do. She's my cute, little, badass munchkin. She's my whole world. She's the love of my life. I'm going to marry her one day. I'm going to have a family with her. I'm going to do it all with her. Beca Mitchell is the love of my life and I knew there was something special between us the moment I met her at the activities fair not to mention when I invaded her shower. She was so nervous and it was so cute. She still is cute to this day. She used to get shy around me but now she's confident and it's the best. I can walk into the bathroom when she's having a shower and she doesn't mind and I certainly don't mind either.

However, she can get on my nerves from time to time. She is very stubborn, lazy, arrogant, and childish. Right now, I'm cleaning up our bedroom. Beca and I have been sharing a room in the Bellas House for a few years now and I'm tidying up and going through some of my things so I can throw away what I don't want and keep what I do want when I graduate. I've told Beca to do the same since we're half-way through our final year and she still hasn't started cleaning things out. So, I'm doing it for her by getting all of her stuff out and making her go through it when she gets back from her class. She's only got half a day today so she'll have plenty of time to go through her things and no, I won't let her get away with it when she says, "I'll do it later. I'm too tired right now". No, ma'am!

I reach under the bed and pull out one of Beca's boxes. She doesn't have too much stuff but she does have her fair share of things. I slide the box out and it's rather heavy. Gee, what's in here? I set the box in front of me and open it only to find a bunch of VHS tapes. What are all these? I pick out a tape and see "Beca's First Audition" written on it. I grab another and read "Beca's Second Audition" followed by a number of other tapes - "Beca's First Performance", "Beca's Final Show", "Beca's Award Ceremony", and many more. What the heck are all of these? And why does Beca keep a box of VHS tapes? I know Beca likes to be old school from time to time but VHS? I still have no idea what these are so I head downstairs to where the Bellas are situated.

"Hey, girls," I say. "Do we have a VHS player lying around?"

"VHS?" Stacie frowns. "I'm sorry, are we going back to the Dark Ages?"

"Yeah, Red, why do you want one of those relics?" Fat Amy asks.

"I found a bunch of VHS tapes in one of Beca's boxes. They look like auditions and performances she did when she was younger. I want to see what's on them."

"Why don't you just ask Beca?" Flo suggests.

"Because she's in class at the moment and you know what she's like when she comes to her past. I don't want to bring it up while she's studying."

"Here," Lily suddenly appears next to me and puts a VHS player on the kitchen counter.

"Whoa... Thanks, Lily," I say. "Why do you have one of these?"

"Good for time travel and listening to the people's voices from the tapes that were once played," she whispers.

Everyone looks at Lily in silence but I choose to move on. I don't want to get into Lily's personal life right now. I swear, none of us really know what goes on with her but she seems to be there when we need her so that's all that matters.

I grab the VHS player and set it up in the living room and surprisingly, it works perfectly. I remember having one of these when I was a kid but now that feels like a lifetime ago.

"Whoa! Check out all of the tapes Shawshank has got!" Fat Amy carries the box of tapes down the hallway and over to me.

"Amy! Don't go snooping!" I say.
