It had been too long. WAY too long for Beca Mitchell who was currently finishing up her American tour. Beca loved being a world-famous artist but she hated the fact that her wife and daughter couldn't always join her and it was one of those times again. The tour had gone on longer than Beca had planned but it wasn't her fault. Multiple states had been suffering terrible weather, which prevented Beca from performing and thus, pushing her performance date further and further. What made things worse for Beca was that she couldn't cancel. Thousands upon thousands of people had bought tickets to see her so she HAD to perform. What was meant to be a three-week tour turned out to be over a month and it KILLED not only Beca but her wife and child, too.
Thankfully, the tour was coming to an end and Beca was on the final leg of it but she had an interview with none other than Ellen Degeneres. Beca was hesitant but it was a quick interview before she finished her tour and she didn't want to finish her tour only to have an interview after and miss out on even more time of being with her family. Beca was greeted with a warm welcome when Ellen called her out onto the stage. They began with their usual small-talk before Ellen moved onto more pressing matters.
"So, do you miss your family?" She asked.
"Oh, you have no idea," Beca answered. "I miss them every day."
"I bet you do. It must be hard going so long without them."
"It is. I'm so used to waking up with my wife next to me then going downstairs where Emily is already on the couch watching cartoons as she waits for us to make her breakfast."
"Aww! That's so sweet!"
"I suppose," Beca chuckled playfully.
"Well, I think you've done an amazing job pushing through."
"Thank you."
"And you still have more of your tour left, don't you?"
"Yeah, I'm nearly done. After this, I've got to fly over to Arizona and perform tomorrow night."
"You must be exhausted!"
"Let's just say if there were a bed here, I'd fall asleep right now and probably not wake up for a day or so."
Ellen and the crowd laughed.
"I have no doubt. Well, it's been such fun talking to you and hearing about your latest tour."
"Thank you. It's been a pleasure."
"And just before you go, I know you're missing your family so I thought I'd get you something just to help you out in the final leg of your journey."
"Aw, thank you."
"No worries. Bring out the surprise!"
The automatic doors opened behind Beca, revealing Chloe and Emily Mitchell.
"Oh my God!" Beca's eyes lit up and she was quick to jump up and race over to her family.
"Mama!" The six-year-old rushed over to Beca, causing Beca to pick her up and hug her tightly.
"Em!" Beca kissed her head and squeezed her.
The crowd cheered for them and they cheered even louder when Beca turned to Chloe and gave her several kisses before hugging her.
"Thank you so much!" Beca turned to Ellen.
"You're welcome! I'll leave you ladies to catch up before you have to fly to Arizona. Thank you for coming and I hope to see you soon."
Ellen concluded the show where Beca, Chloe, and Emily walked backstage with Beca carrying Emily the whole way and listening to her talk about school and the new friends she had been making.
