53: 1st Test pt. 3

She's off to Kalluto....

But he said one-on-one battle would only be applied after his test.

She forfeited tho... so I guess... her test was over.

"Why don't you do as she did?"

The wafting presence made me spun around as I met Kalluto's face.

"W-why?—" I asked in surprise, staggering back.

From where was he watching us?

"She judged the situation quick... hence, dropped the friendship act with you. That can be sharp too." He flicked his fan over my forehead, almost like mocking me. "What about you? What're you gonna do? Wanna give up?"

"She's not playing your games, so technically she's out and I won." I briefly replied.

"...mhn.. Nah." He ignored my point and sticks with his own rules, rather, his own preferable choice.

Weird. He's not that intimidating... Maybe it's because he's a little bit younger than me..

Still, I should be defensive. He's a Zoldyck and more importantly, he might attempt to steal my mask again.

"It's cute."

"Huh?" He lifts his paper fan off me, baffled.

"It's cute that you don't want either of us winning. You dislike your brother getting a lover don't you?" I grin, giving him a brief pat on the head. "I don't know about Yukarin, but... to be honest. I'm no match for someone as strong and skilled as you guys."

"Illumi couldn't kill you he said. How could I beat you? We also scanned for both of your backgrounds, but unfortunately, you're the only one without a record. Amusing." He glared with one corner of his lips curved up, making a half smirk. "We might just squeeze out the information from you as the last resort." Now that his face is up close, the left mole below his lips made his dark expression quite appealing too.

"Yukarin's after you. Won't she track you back here?" Without breaking the eye contact, I moved my arms behind me, casually intertwining my fingers.

"She's already fighting with my copy." He replies. "Although, she must've figured out it's fake by now... but I doubt she'll take down my doll easily."

Their nen upgrades are really something..

He was just aspiring to be as good as Killua before, but now he's capable of manipulating papers to look exactly as a human?— Like his doppelgänger.

This is a spoiler for me.. I'm way more advanced than the manga now.

"Kalluto, would you reread the riddle for me?"

"Why would I?"

I sighed.

"Your mind test was fun, but I'm not participating any longer. I just figured everything now... I should've thought like my brother would've if he's in my situation." I muttered the last sentence to myself.

He stared at me without expression.

"I like how tricky all was. You prepared a time eating test, and we don't even know how much letters are waiting for us because of your lack of information, forcing us to fail. The chance you also offered— the one-on-one battle was just an excuse so that you could prevent us from teaming together..... All I'm saying is that.... you don't intend to let us pass."

"Did you think that answering my motive is enough to show me how sharp you are?" He scoffed.

"You don't have our valuables in the first place. You might be secretly spying on us early in the morning for God knows.. It's a perfect coincidence for you since you needed us to be hooked in your test in order for it to be effective... Did Chrollo teach you that?"
