The next hour was spent with crying and sobbing as Jeongguk held Ellie close to his chest, rereading the letter for her. Listening to his voice was much comforting but it didn't stop her crying a bit.
"Why didn't you tell me we knew each other before?" Ellie whispers into Jeongguk's chest, shirt already soaking wet from her endless tears.
"We didn't just know each other. We grew up together," he says softly pulling her chin up to make her look at him.
"Do you know anything about this...?" she places her hand on her biceps.
"You've had that tattoo since you started going to school," Jeongguk reveals the truth she had no idea about, remembering the memories from many years ago.
"Why?"
"Why do you hate it?"
"Because it's not finished."
"It is finished, Ellie," he says, pulling the sleeve of her shirt just enough to see where the ink is drawn under her skin.
"It's my first time seeing it," he whispers as his eyes scan the ink and warm fingertips trace the dark clouds on her biceps.
"What do you know about it that I don't?" Ellie's eyes focus on his and he licks his lips.
"It's not incomplete. It represents your biggest fear. There's just a piece which is missing to it."
________
Both of them needed a while to collect themselves. After another hour, Ellie almost fell asleep in Jeongguk's embrace and he knew it was the time to go back home.
Jeongguk purposely took the longer way back to their house to let her sleep in the car for a little longer. He didn't drive back to the warehouse, it was still safe enough for them back at the mansion, for now.
Jeongguk stops the car in front of the big house, seeing most of the lights inside on which means the boys are still up even at this hour.
He doesn't have the heart to wake Ellie up when he stares at her peaceful sleeping state. Opening the door on the passenger's side, he carefully unfastens her seatbelt and carries her inside.
With a hard stare, he silences the laughing boys inside and walks up the stairs to Ellie's room, securely holding her in his arms.
Just when he's about to place her on bed, he notices the open window and the cold air flowing inside. There's no way he's letting her stay in this cold.
Right there, Jeongguk turns around and carries her to his room next to hers. He places her on his bed and covers her sleeping body with his grey sheets.
He leaves the door slightly open when he goes back to her room to close the window and walks downstairs to complain about the temperature. Thankfully Jin quickly jumps up and turns the heating system on in the whole house.
"Jeongguk-ah! Do you have a minute?" Yoongi stops the youngest at the first stair just when he's about to rush back to his girl.
"Yeah?" he stops just under the stairs but far enough from the others.
"Is Ellie upstairs?"
The younger nods.
"Be careful around her, Gguk. You know she doesn't have it easy," Yoongi warns, a pair of serious eyes looking up at the younger.
