Dressed in a black set of laffa, her makeup done lightly, she posed in front of the many cameras only the sound of the click sounds could be heard.
Most of the flashes from the phone taking a video of her was making her blink.
Her wedding day, she knew deep down only few minutes left for everything to be finalized not know what was actually going on in the living downstairs.
The living room was filled with guess who where readily waiting for the time to reach so they could all go out and witness the daurin aure, when a delivery boy came with a paper bag in his hands.
When the bag was given to mermah's father he collected with a smile wondering it was some gift from someone who couldn't make it to the wedding.
He called on his wife to his private room living all the guess gathered waiting for him just so they could leave for the daurin aure in the mosque outside the house.
"Alhaji maiwana" (What is this) sabat mermah mother asked already opening the paper bag, a neatly folded paper with an envelope was inside.
"I gift I received earlier, I didn't even know from who" Alhaji Akbar said looking at his wife who was already unfolding the paper.
"Alhaji Mai wanna" (What is this) Sabat asked throwing the paper at her husband she was already opening the envelope.
Alhaji Akbar face twisted in a frown as he read the content of the paper, he quickly got on his feet his heart thunding in his chest seeing tears in his wife's eyes.
He matched to where she was holding hardcopy of pictures in her hands, taking the pictures from her with a shaky hands and trembling lips. Eyes widen as saucers, nose flying mouth agapes. He stared at the picture.
"Why will marmah do such to us" he stated, the content in his hand slipped to the ground, where I got the clear view of what was inside the picture.
All I saw was marmerhs face making out with someone, my eyes wide as saucers I ran back upstairs living the two parents to solve the problem.
Mermah and her friends where chatting happily as though they got no care in this world, she was now dressed in a red laffaya waiting for the daurin. Aure to be finalized.
"Amarsu amarsu" Layla one of her classmates jokingly called making her blushed red.
"Su amarya manya" (Bride of the century) Another of her friend joked earning a loud of laughter from the room.
Lots of guys has already arrived waiting for Alhaji Akbar to come out so they could go, Even the iman who was supposed to tied to knot was waiting.
No one from the groom family arrived although both if them where family but the groom father and his friends where no where to be found, even the brides father went missing.
That was how small talks started, even reached marmerh who became restless now pacing up and down in her room, the then happy room filled with laugher became been drop dead silent.
As though it rained and stopped, the sound of laylay phone ringing was what got all the attention of the room occupant to her.
They all gave her pleading look to answer just so they could receive some good news. Laylay which shaky hands placed the phone on her ears.
"Ango fah yafassa auren" laylahs brother who came all the way from yola where he works said from the other end clearly pissed with wasting his time.
Layla didn't say a word her heart just sank deeply, subhanAllah she murmured international to herself.
Mumbling some supplication to giver her friend some strength to handle such fate.
All the girls never took there eyes off Layla but she remained pine with the phone over her eyes, she knew deep down she isn't in the right position to tell marmerh about this, then who will.
"Okay" she murmured trying her best to sound Normal but her voice came our hoarse.
"It nothing" she said chuckling nervously, mermah wasn't feeling alright about the whole thing.
Then why all this, pushing back the tears that where threatening to fall from her eyes back but failed miserable.
She let the tears rolled down from her left cheeks, then another came from her right that was how she broken down and cried, cried for everything and nothing.
